Zola G. Farrell was a pure-blood witch and the mother of Kevin Farrell. She was a professional Quidditch player who played as Chaser for the Holyhead Harpies.[4]

Biography[]

Zola attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in her youth, where she was Sorted into Gryffindor House.[2]

After she finished school, she became a professional Quidditch player for the Holyhead Harpies, playing as Chaser and being coached by Viktor Krum.[6] At some point, she married the broomstick enchanter Milo Farrell and had a son, Kevin Farrell, with him. She provided personal Quidditch training to her son and asked Krum to give her son a lesson as well.[6]

During the 2008–2009 school year, Zola was one of several professional Quidditch players who visited Hogwarts alongside their team mascots. A student broom race was also scheduled for sunset on the day of their visit, with Robyn Thistlethwaite being particularly excited to show off her flying skills in front of Zola, whom she considered to be her favourite Chaser and whom she'd been previously unaware was actually Kevin's mother, although Kevin expressed that he didn't tell her because he didn't want her to make a big deal out of it.[7][8] During the players' visit, Robyn immediately went to get her picture taken with Zola and hoped she and Kevin could convince her to let Robyn ride on Zola's broomstick. Zola agreed to have her photograph taken with Robyn, bringing her husband and son into the photo as well.[8]

By 2009, Zola had competed at least once in the annual broom race. She didn't win, but she said to her son that it was a blast.[9]

Before the 2010–2011 school year, she bought her son a Firebolt Supreme and hoped he could try out for his House's Quidditch team.[10]

During the 2011–2012 school year, Kevin was selected as one of Hogwarts's champions for the Intercontinental Wizard's Cup and was set to be interviewed by Rita Skeeter of the Daily Prophet. Zola was excited to read about her son in the paper, but the resulting interview was forced to instead be a simple summary of the competition due to the paper's current focus on the activities of the Nocturnal Order of Tricks and Magical Exhibitions pushing it off of the front page. Although Kevin's friend expressed their relief that Rita's interview at least didn't make them look bad, Kevin sadly expressed that the interview instead made them look boring and that he believed Zola would be disappointed.[11]
