- February: The J. K. Rowling's official site is taken down, save a single page announcement, pending a major redesign. The site was later relaunched in spring of the same year.
- 20 March: Actor Jamie Waylett, who portrayed Vincent Crabbe, is sentenced for two years in jail for taking part of the 2011 London riots.
- 31 March: The Warner Bros. Studio Tours The Making of Harry Potter is opened Worldwide in Leavesden, Hertfordshire, with members of the cast and crew going to Leavesden for the Grand Opening.
- 9 April: Voice actor Takeshi Aono, who dubbed Argus Filch in the Japanese versions of the first, second and sixth films, dies at the age of 75.
- 14 April: Beta registry ended on Pottermore and it was opened to the public for registration.
- 4 July: Eric Sykes, who portrayed Frank Bryce in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, dies at the age of 89.
- 8 August: Actor Christopher Whittingham, who portrayed a Ministry wizard in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, dies of cancer at the age of 63.
- 9 October: Harry Potter for Kinect is released.
- 12 November: Actor Fred Ridgeway, who voiced Aragog in the video game adaptation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, dies of motor neurone disease at the age of 59.
- 13 November: Wonderbook: Book of Spells is released.
- 15 December: The Harry Potter Shop at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters opens to the public at King's Cross Station in London, England.[1]
