Heart Heater Vermillion Qeentharin,[7][5] more commonly known as simply Heart Heater,[1][8] is a human NPC in Lucid Adventure. He is a transcendental being that has lived through eons.[9] He is a member of the Qeentharin Family and the former Dragon Knight of the Dragon of Evil.[3] Together with his Assistant Rim, he served as Dark's underling.

In his earlier years, Heart Heater served as a "Knight of the Black Dragon" and also was the "Captain of the 2nd Division".[5] He fell in love with a woman who came into the Lucid Adventure before the beta testers.[9] He made a promise to the woman to protect Dark at all cost.[10] After she left Lucid Adventure, Heart Heater decided to leave Dragon Mountain in order to find her. After passing the Dragon of Evil's Trial of a Dragon, Heart Heater decided to leave Dragon Mountain to search for the woman. Before he left, the Dragon of Evil plucked out his left eye and forbade him from using the Dragon's Power without the Dragon of Evil's consent.[11]

Sometime after leaving the Dragon's Mountain, Heart Heater became a "Loan Shark" and a "Black Marketeer".[1][2] He specialised in giving hidden and rare quests to players and became famous for riding a blue dragon. Just as the woman requested, Heart Heater protected Dark from his family when Dark finally stepped into Lucid Adventure. Heart Heater aided Team Dark and helped them gain experience and grow by giving them high level quests as well as valuable information. Heart Heater eventually joined Team Dark after Giga assassinated Cocory, who was supposed to be the fourth member of Team Dark during the Combat Round. After using the Dragon's Power during the Combat Round Semfinals, he was summoned to Dragon Mountain by Dragon of Evil. Heart Heater watched helplessly as members of Team Dark were forced to undergo the The Trial of a Dragon in order to prove that Dark was worthy of becoming Heart Heater's new master. After his teammates succeeded in passing the trials and gaining the Cursed Hero title, he gave them Hero Exclusive Weapons. Heeart Heater eventually won the Combat Tournament alongside his team.

During the time-skip, Heart Heater aided Dark in creating Dark Land. After the timeskip, Heart Heater also helps Dark to run Dark Land's political affairs. During the Big 4 Guild Summit, Heart Heater represented Dark Land and duelled Xiang Yu of Giga to decide the leader of the Players' Union. Despite being critically wounded by Xiang Yu, Heart Heater defeated his opponent thanks to the intervention of the Dragon of Evil. Heart Heater is currently serving as one of the four strategists of the Players' Union.

Before Dark left for the Demon Real, he tasked Heart Heater with recruiting Yopy and Light to their side. Heart Heater managed to save Light from Han Gun-Ho's mutiny against Giga . He negotiated on Dark's behalf that Light should help find Hardcore Leveling Warrior in the real world. Heart Heater joined the Dragon of Evil's forces and helped subjugate the Nightmare insurrection in the Human Realm. Alongside the Dragon of Evil, Dragon of Light and Stone, Heart Heater was teleported to the Demon Realm by Choco Bibi to confront the Demon King Hardcore Leveling Warrior.[12] He aided the players during the final battle against Han Gun-Ho by buffing them with the Dragon of Evil's power, which eventually led to Han Gun-Ho's defeat.[13]

As Hardcore Leveling Warrior was about to separate the real world from Lucid Adventure permanently, Zero reappeared and reabsorbed Lucid Adventure back into herself and crossed into the real world, which forced Hardcore Leveling Warrior to recreate a new world. Heart Heater, Dark and Sora convinced Hardcore Leveling Warrior to absorb them and fight Zero in the real world.[14]

In the reset timeline, Heart Heater along with the rest of the NPCs in Lucid Adventure are alive and remember Hardcore Leveling Warrior as the hero that saved their world.[9]

Appearance

Heart Heater is a tall man with jade green hair and bright red eyes with a downward scar underneath his right eye and eyepatch covering his left eye. Throughout the journey, he wore a blue suit vest with white long sleeved collar tee underneath, blue pants, orange necktie and shoes. He also wore a blue coat draped around his shoulders but removes it during battle.

Two years later, nothing much changed on his appearance but his hair is now styled into a slicked back and his eye patch no longer had a strap.

In the past, Heart Heater still had his left eye and didn't have a scar. He also wore sleeveless brown leather armor over his white long sleeved shirt and a brown leather waist armor. Somewhere down the line however, he had grown long green hair and had gotten the scar. He had dragon-shaped shoulder plates with a gauntlet on the left side. He wore a tattered coat over dragon plated armor, black dragon plate leg armor and boots. He had lost his left eye at that time when the Dragon of Evil took it.

Personality

Being the descendant of a Noble family, Heart Heater has always carried himself in a well-mannered, exemplary fashion befitting his noble origins. He doesn't use any profanity and is usually extremely calm and collected in most situations.

His most notable trait, however, is his lust for money, rivaling that of Hardcore Leveling Warrior's. To Heart Heater, money is far more valuable than even life and he would rather die than write off a debtors debt.[15] He even sees wars as nothing more than an opportunity to make a fortune.[16] Even when he was threatened by an Ancient Dragon, Heart Heater still tried to make a deal.[17] He is also never late in asking back for money he is owed.[18]

He hates idiots, especially the ones that don't pay back the money they borrowed from him.[18] He nails the fingers of those who have not paid him back on a wall in his Quest House, showing his ruthless side.[18]

Heart Heater's favorite tea is Earl Grey and he can be seen drinking it on several occasions in the series.[19] He also likes to eat candy and can be seen eating it from his brown pocket pouch.[20]

WEBTOON Translations

Name

In Hardcore Leveling Warrior, 하트히터 is correctly translated as Heart Heater by WEBTOON.

하트 means "heart". The English surname, "Hart" uses is translated as 하트 in Korean. For example, Bret Hart (the famous wrestler) is translated as 브렛 하트 in Korean.

히터 means "heater".

Heart Heater's surname, 퀸타린, was translated as Quintarin in Hardcore Leveling Warrior AE 7. The author actually wrote the surname in English in the Korean version as Qeentharin when Heart Heater used the Northern Piercing Wind skill in Hardcore Leveling Warrior Season 2 Episode 36.

In X Ash Episode 36, Heart Heater's full name, 하트히터 버밀리온 퀸타린, is incorrectly translated as Heart Heater Vermillion Quintarin by WEBTOON.

As discussed above, 히터 means "heater", not "hitter". Hitter in Korean is "타자; (공을 …하게) 치는 사람" or "유력자; 실력자". The author already gave us the English translation of 퀸타린 as Qeentharin so Quintarin is incorrect.

하트히터 버밀리온 퀸타린 should be translated as Heart Heater Vermillion Qeentharin.

Epithets

사채업자

Heart Heater's class is "사채업자" which LINE translated as Private Money Lender in Hardcore Leveling Warrior Season 1 Episode 1 and then Loan Shark in Hardcore Leveling Warrior Season 1 Episode 164.

사채업자 literally means "loan shark; private money lender; underground lender". Either one is fine but Loan Shark is usually associated with the word. The wiki uses Loan Shark.

검은용의 기사

검은용의 기사 is translated as Dark Dragon Knight by WEBTOON in X Ash Episode 36.

검은 is the realis adnominal of 검다, which means "black". It can also be translated as "dark".

용 means "dragon"

의 means the suffix -’s. It Indicates that the previous word has possession of the next one. It functions like the English suffix “’s”, or like the word “of” with the position of possessor and possessee switched. So basically "X's ball" or "Ball of X".

기사 means "knight".

검은용의 기사 means The Black Dragon's Knight or Knight of the Black Dragon.

Notes & Trivia

  • Heart Heater's full name, "Heart Heater Vermillion Qeentharin" was first revealed by the author on his Twitch live stream and then later on a the author's personal Twitter page on the 16th of March 2019. The author's Twitter page has since been deleted. Heart Heater's family name, Qeentharin, was first revealed by Architect Brick in Hardcore Leveling Warrior AE 7. His full name was officially revealed in the series canon in X Ash Episode 36.
  • The X Ash webtoon is a story narrated by Heart Heater to Dark, Hardcore Leveling Warrior and Sora the day before the start of the Combat Round.[22]
  • Heart Heater's aura as seen by Dark is a Black Dragon. This fits his 'Dragon' motif.
  • Heart Heater is a very popular character and has appeared in several Korean webtoon series outside of the main Hardcore Leveling Warrior timeline. Despite appearing in different webtoons, the character itself is very similar across all his various webtoon appearances and they all have similar background stories.
    • Heart Heater also appears in the Naver webtoon Sindorim as 'H. Heater'. Heart Heater first appeared in the Hardcore Leveling Warrior webtoon on January 24, 2016. Sindorim started it's serialization on August 8, 2016 and he appeared in it's 3rd Episode which was on 16th of August 2016. There was a lot of controversy as to whether Sindorim plagiarized and stole the character, bit in fact the two writers went to the same college and have a very close friendship.[23]
    • As with Sindorim, the author of Hardcore Leveling Warrior has a close friendship with the author of the Naver Webtoon Troll Trap. Hear Heater also appears in Episode 48 of the webtoon Troll Trap as 'H', the private loaner. He appears as a private-loan contract who has a large a amount of goods and is capable of selling and borrowing rare objects and weapons that are not available on the normal markets.[24]
    • He also makes a brief cameo appearance in the Naver Webtoon Linkboy prologue.[25]
    • Heart Heater makes a cameo in Episode 5 of the Naver Webtoon, Do you know the road (당신의 과녁).
    • Heart Heater Made a came in Episode 1 of the Naver Webtoon Taebaek: The Tutorial Man (태백 : 튜토리얼 맨이난). The author of Taebaek: The Tutorial man has said that Heart Heater will not feature as a regular character in the series.
    • Heart Heater made his debut in the KAKAO Webtoon, Hook. He appears to be a reoccurring character and first appeared in Hook Episode 242. He appeared as HH [하트히터]남쪽의 교황 - 신국의 3대 지략가 (Southern Pope HH [Heart Heater] - Top 3 Strategist of God's Kingdom).
  • Fans compared Heart Heater's design to Ciel Phantomhive of the Black Butler series.
  • Kim Sehoon uploaded 4 pictures of a younger Heart Heater on his twitter.
    • The first tweet revealed Heart Heater's full name in a twitter post saying: "소년의 이름은 하트히터 버밀리온 퀸타린. 진홍색 눈을가진 퀸타린 가문의 아이." This literally translates to "The name of the boy is the Heart Heater Vermilion Qeentharin. A child of Qeentharin family with crimson eyes."[7]
    • The second picture was a picture of Heart Heater watching the snow with the caption "소년은 생각 했습니다. ‘오늘 따라 눈이 더럽게 많이 내리네.’" which literally means "The boy thought. 'It's snowing a lot today.'"[26]
    • The 3rd and 4th Pic are of a young Heart Heater silhoutte and a young Heart Heater watching the scenery. '집을 나온 소년은 목적지도 없이 눈길을 걷고 또 걸었습니다. "결국 얼어 죽을거야!" "통통한게 맛좋아 보이는걸!" 겨울까마귀들이 소년의 머리위에서 떠들어댔습니다. 소년은 생각했습니다. "시끄러운 까마귀들. 난 통통한게 아니라 체격이 좋은거야.". This literally translates to: The boy who left the house walked and walked without a destination. "I'll eventually die freezing!". "Chubby looks delicious!" Winter crows rattled over the boy's head. The boy thought. "Noisy crows. I'm not chubby, I have a good physique."[27]
  • There has been a number of people that originally thought that Heart Heater was a player and not an NPC.
  • The author revealed on the official Hardcore Leveling Warrior instagram page that Heart heater's birthday is April 1st, the same day as April fools.[6] He shares the same birthday as Constant.
  • The story of the X Ash webtoon is actually being narrated by Heart Heater to Hardcore Leveling Warrior, Dark and Sora right before the Combat Round.[22]
