For the mission in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, see Green Goo.
The Green Goo is a mysterious artifact from both the 3D Universe and HD Universe that appears in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Description[]
The artifact consists of a jar containing a mysterious green substance. The goo gives off a green lens flare visible from far.
It has a different origin in each universe it appears.
3D Universe[]
During the mission Green Goo, The Truth tells Carl Johnson to attack a Military Freight Train heavily protected by guards, kill the guards, and steal "whatever they least want us to get" without giving any clue of what it is. He collects the jar of green goo and takes it back to The Truth at the Verdant Meadows Airfield. Carl gives it to The Truth, who calls the green goo "everything" and "year zero". Carl asks one more time what it is, but is too late, as The Truth drives off in the Mothership.
After the mission, The Truth calls into the Marvin Trill's radio show Area 53 on WCTR, where he states:
This implies that the substance inside the jar is somehow related to extraterrestrial life. The texture images used for the jar model are named "alien_liquid", "alien_glass" and "alien_cont2".
HD Universe[]
During the LSA Operations mission Surgical Strike, one of the Operation Bonuses tasks is stealing a mysterious artifact containing a green substance inside. According to Charlie Reed, this artifact appears to be related to a project from Fort Zancudo. It is being protected by Merryweather during the mission.

Trivia[]
- In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - The Definitive Edition, this effect is replaced by a generic ring checkpoint, still using the green lens flare color. This is likely an oversight by Grove Street Games.
