Introduction

As outlined in “Global Core Biodata Resources: Concept and Selection Process”, the Global Biodata Coalition is commencing the initial round of Global Core Biodata Resource selection. You will find materials to support biodata resources as they prepare their Expression of Interest below.

Key dates

21st March 2022 Submission of expressions of interest opened.

22nd April 2022 Deadline for submission of expressions of interest. Submissions are now closed.

Week commencing 12th December 2022 Announcement of the initial GCBR list.

Timeline

While near-term dates are defined in this timeline, the more remote dates are to be confirmed. Once those dates are confirmed, this timeline will be updated, and the changes will be publicised via social media as well as sent directly to all relevant parties.

Submission of expressions of interest opens.
Request for expression of interest posted on GBC website and actively disseminated to key parties.
22nd April 2022 23:59 UTC
Deadline for submission of expressions of interest.
25th – 29th April 2022
Webinars with Q&A for expression of interest and full application reviewers.
23rd May – 1st June 2022
Expression of interest review committee meets to determine which data resources will be invited to proceed to full application.
13th – 17th June 2022
Notification of outcome of expression of interest to submitters.
4th – 8th July 2022
Teleconference Q&A for those data resources invited to submit a formal full application.
11th July 2022
Submission of full applications opens.
8th August 2022
Deadline for Submission of full applications.
15th – 29th August 2022
Full application reviews generated.
5th – 23rd September 2022
Reporting of reviewer scores and comments to submitters: followed by a 2 week opportunity to respond.
26th September – 7th October 2022
Full application review committee meets to generate recommendations for selection.
Week commencing 12th December 2022
GBC Board approves decision for inclusion in list of GCBRs.
Applicants formally notified of outcome.
Announcement of the initial GCBR list – GBC website, news release, etc.

Webinar

A webinar for applicants was run on three occasions in February 2022 to accommodate as many time zones as possible. The webinars introduced the GBC and covered the indicators used for selection, the reasoning for choosing these indicators, and the review process that will select the Global Core Biodata Resources.
