Aisha Tyler, born September 18, 1970,[1] is an American actress, stand-up comedian and author. She is known for her roles on Ghost Whisperer, Archer, Friends, Criminal Minds and The Talk (which she co-hosted) and she guest starred on Glee.
Personal life[]
Tyler was born in San Francisco, California to Jim Tyler and Robin Gregory.[1] Tyler attended McAteer High School in San Francisco, which had a special program called McAteer School of the Arts, where she attended improv and theater classes.,[2] and graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in Political Science.[1] She co-founded and sang in the Dartmouth Rockapellas, an all-female a cappella group devoted to spreading social awareness through song.[3]
She married Jeff Tietjens in the early 1990s (sources differ)[4][5] and the couple would separate in January 2015 with Tietjens filing for divorce in April 2016[5]; the divorce would be finalized in May 2017.
Career[]
Tyler hosted Talk Soup (renamed The Soup) and The 5th Wheel for a year till 2002. She appeared in The Santa Clause 2 and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause in 2002 and 2006.
Tyler had a recurring role in Friends in 2003, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation for a year till 2005, recurring role in 24 in 2005, and a recurring role in Ghost Whisperer for a year till 2006.
She has a recurring voice-role in Archer since 2009 and appeared in XIII: The Series for a year till 2012, guest-starred on Glee in 2012, and is co-hosting The Talk since 2011.
Tyler's book, "Self-Inflicted Wounds: Heartwarming Tales of Epic Humiliation," was released in July 2013.[6]
Tyler appeared in an episode ("Spring-A-Ding-Fling") on Modern Family. She will portray Wendy, a former law school classmate of Mitchell, who runs the legal aid society where he gets a job. The episode aired in early March 2014.[7]
She portrayed Dr. Tara Lewis in a recurring role on Criminal Minds' eleventh season, as annouced on June 2015.[8]
