App version: 1.8.1 (F-Droid)

Problem you may be having, or feature you want:

It's not really a problem, it's just a functionality that is not there which would be a "nice to have", but definitely not a dealbreaker.

I would like to be able to "archive" podcasts so that they don't clutter my sidebar. This is useful for dead, finished or canceled podcasts that are not getting new episodes anymore. Or simply for podcasts I'm not listening to anymore, but have listened to in the past.

I'm suggesting an "archive" functionality in hope that it would preserve the entries in the Settings -> Statistics page.

I know I could just "Remove podcast", but that also deletes the entry from the Settings -> Statistics section, and I would like to keep that instead.

Suggested solution:

I'm not sure what would be the best UI workflow for this. Probably have the option in the top right menu of the podcast view, and also have the option show up when long-tapping a podcast from the sidebar.

Hi @oalbe,

Welcome to AntennaPod on GitHub :)

Wonderful idea! So great, in fact, that I've requested this also myself some time ago ;)
#1960 Statistics: keep deleted feeds (and duplicate #3641)

Granted, 'deleted feeds' is probably not the best description. But the main idea is the same.

As for cleaning up the sidebar, apart from deleting, there were a couple of requests for archiving: #2489, #2502 and #2743. These are all superseded however by requests for groups/folders/tags, mainly tracked in #1711.

Would it be ok to close this issue? In which case it would be good of course to give your thumbs-up to the open issues I linked.

Would it be ok to close this issue?

Totally. I searched the open issues for "archive" and I guess it was a bad search term.

I'm all for the idea of groups/folders for podcasts, I think those would be very useful. But I think the idea of an option to completely archive a podcast/folder/group so that it's not seen in the sidebar anymore still has some value. Otherwise the UI workflow I'm imagining would be to create an "Archived" folder and move all those podcasts in there. Which would still take you some of the way there I guess.

Thank you for your reply, and sorry for creating what's basically a duplicate item. I totally failed my search.
