How I Spent My Summer Vacation is the premiere of Season 3 of The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.
Synopsis[]
Will returns from a summer in Philly and is kicked out of the mansion for defying Uncle Phil.
Summary[]
Will returns home from spending the summer in Philadelphia with a new look that doesn't sit well with Uncle Phil. It angers Phillip even more when Ashley starts to pick up Will's habits. Will disrupts a catered event hosted at the Banks' in aid of Uncle Phil's partners and clients, with his unusual dress-sense and use of a beeper. When Phil tells Will to get rid of the clothes, the messy hair and the beeper, Will defies him by not acknowledging him and runs away and tries to stay at Jazz's, who kicks him out. Will gets picked up by a police officer.
At the end of the episode, Will is brought home by the officer. Will, however, still refuses to give up his new look, with Ashley, Carlton, and Hilary taking his side in an attempt to get further privileges from their parents. At first, it looks as though their plan has succeeded, as Uncle Phil admits that his nephew has a point about the freedom of expression and tells him to do whatever he wants. But then, Uncle Phil turns the tables …
Stating that he feels a need to express himself too, Philip acknowledges that he cannot punish Will specifically, since he is only his nephew. The Banks children on the other hand are a different story. Thus, Philip declares that Ashley, Carlton and Hilary are all grounded until Will gets rid of his clothes, beeper and fixes his hair. Having beaten Will at his own game, Uncle Phil pats his nephew gently on the cheek, before exchanging a high five with his wife. Vivian follows him out, telling the stunned children it was a "nice try".
They leave Will to face the wrath of his angry cousins, who are now glaring at him. Will tries to say talk them down by saying that Philip is using the "divide and conquer" technique but his cousins don't care. The episode ends with Ashley, Carlton and Hilary chasing after Will who makes a dash for the stairs.
