A ‘person of interest’ has come forward voluntarily in connection to a hit and run in Rathmines in Dublin.
A pedestrian was struck down by a car on Lower Rathmines Road at around 8.45pm on Sunday.
A man in his 40s was rushed to St James Hospital where he still remains in a stable condition.
Now, it seems a person of interest has made themselves known to gardai, and provided a voluntary statement.
Investigators are not looking for any other vehicles in relation to the incident at this time.
A statement from a Garda spokesperson reads; ‘Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Rathmines, Dublin, on Sunday, 22 December 2024.
‘The injured adult male (40s) remains in St James Hospital in a stable condition.
‘A person of interest has come forward to Gardaí voluntarily and has provided a statement.
‘Gardaí are not looking for any other vehicle in relation to this incident.
‘Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
‘Those with camera footage, including motorists with dash-cam, from the area at the time are asked to provide it to investigating Gardaí.’
