Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a woman in her 50s was discovered with critical injuries following a serious collision.
The collision occurred on Shantalla Road, Galway in the early hours of this morning (December 18), sometime between 1 am and 2.15 am.
A woman in her 50s, who was travelling on an electric scooter, was discovered by a member of the public with severe injuries and has since been removed to University Hospital Galway, where her condition has been described as critical.
SERIOUS COLLISION
The scene remained preserved on Wednesday morning with local diversions in place for commuters heading into Galway City Centre.
Gardaí in Co Galway have issued an appeal for witnesses to the incident to come forward to aid them in their investigation.
Any road users or pedestrians who were in the Shantalla Road area between 1 am and 2.15 this morning (December 18) who may have camera footage, including a dash-cam, are being asked to make it available to Gardaí.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: ‘Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic incident that occurred on Shantalla Road, Galway, in the early hours of Wednesday, 18th December 2024.
‘A woman (aged in her 50s), who was travelling on an electric scooter, was discovered with serious injuries on the road. The incident is believed to have occurred at some time between 1 am and 2.15 am.’
