Deletion discussion about Rated FTR

[edit]

Hello, Lemonademan22

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Bunnypranav and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I've asked for a discussion about the redirect Rated FTR, created by you. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2025 January 4 § Rated FTR.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Bunnypranav}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

@Bunnypranav: If redirecting iot to Edge (wrestler) is the issue, then should we just redirect it to FTR (professional wrestling)? Lemonademan22 (talk) 20:09, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The current target mentions it more, but other pages with that text link to the FTR page, so better thought to do an RFD deciding the target. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 03:57, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have sent you a note about a page you started

[edit]

Hi Lemonademan22. Thank you for your work on Dynamite on 34th Street. Another editor, North8000, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

I did a preliminary new page patrol looks at several of your recent articles. I notice that you've been doing several on individual TV show events. To meet wp:notability you're going to need independent sources that cover the topic of the article (the show itself) in some depth. The best of luck in finding those but the alternative would be to have them as individual sections or lines in a table in a broader article that might cove many of these. I've not done any New Page Patrol type disposition on these. With your interest in the sport possibly this is good advice for enjoyable editing on articles rather than running into wp:notability issues. Either way, happy editing!

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|North8000}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

North8000 (talk) 15:10, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@North8000: I have been planning to add more content to the pages I have created like the one you have mentioned above and I will definitely improve it, however I have been rather busy as of recently so I have not had much time to add anything. When I have the time I will add useful content to improve the article. Lemonademan22 (talk) 15:43, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar

[edit]
The Original Barnstar
Normally when I'm going down my watchlist and I'm looking at pro wrestling articles, there's a few names I feel I don't need to check their edits (not many, mind, as the pro wrestling corner of Wikipedia is often a mess). This is especially rare among newer editors, as they obviously take a while to learn the ropes – and many new editors on pro wrestling articles don't usually understand what Wikipedia is about.

I'm very happy to say that your name has long since entered the category of Wikipedians where I don't feel the need to check their edits when they appear on my watchlist. Given that you're relatively new I find this particularly impressive, so this is a barnstar to recognise the impact you've made. — Czello (music) 20:34, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I very much appreciate this. I strive on doing the best I can on here whenever possible. Cheers Czello! Lemonademan22 (talk) 20:41, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@WikiOriginal-9 Not at all, you're right in what you said, it just got a bit excessive but none of it was your fault. Thank you for the kind words. Lemonademan22 (talk) 23:39, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know there was no point in continuing that discussion? Do you know that's MY talk page? Spend some time and read WP guidelines about talk pages. I politely replied to your misunderstanding and you still teaching me about my normal behavior?! You do not get my points. That's all. Just drop it. Women's Tag Title

[edit]

Hello, Lemon. How are you? I have seen you removed the notes from the Women's Tag Team Championship. If other users include it again, what do you think a middle point? Several years ago, something happened with the Crash Tag Team Titles. [1] The used separated the same title reign as 6A and 6B. Maybe, we can do the same. 22A for Green and Deville, 22B for Green and Niven. Same for Naomi, Cargill and Bianca --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 14:46, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@HHH Pedrigree Hi Pedigree mate, yeah I think 22A for Geen and Deville and 22B for Green and Niven would be alright. It's just with the extra notes that are added, it's so confusing to read all of them and it would be way too overstimulaitng for the reader. But I think your suggestion would be appropriate. Future Lucha Libre AAA parent company

[edit]

Hi @Lemonademan22. There's a dispute about two IPs, 82.6.54.84 said that TKO wont be the parent company of Triple a since it will be owned directly by WWE, while 72.28.3.110 said that AAA will not be directly owned by WWE, rather it will operate as a joint venture ran by WWE and Filip. WWE's parent company is TKO, making TKO the parent company of AAA. If you have the time, your input would be really valuable. Sabu

[edit]

How does other sources from yesterday not having a set date noted discredit MLive's article from today giving a date of death? It very clearly says "Hardcore wrestling legend Sabu died Sunday at age of 60, a little more than three weeks after he wrestled his retirement match", there's no confusion here. Rusted AutoParts 21:16, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Rusted AutoParts I'm just thinking we may be jumping the gun here, add it back if you wish, however I am awaiting more main stream articles to publish an official death date. That is all. Lemonademan22 (talk) 21:18, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't say it's jumping the gun, it's information that's being updated as more time has passed to allow for more details. I'd be more understanding of concern if there were two conflicting dates being put up. Like if The Washington Post published an article say "he died today", and then another article from say The Guardian states "he passed away overnight Saturday" or something. MLive is giving a clear date, some credence can be given to it given it's his home state. The Lansing State Journal in their tweet about their article also states "died Sunday" Rusted AutoParts 21:22, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yahoo Uncrowned as well. Rusted AutoParts 21:25, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Rusted AutoParts As I said in my original response, add it back if you wish, if you're sure that it's reliable and correct, add it. However, if it turns out he died on a different day and it was merely announced on May 11, I will obviously need to change it. Lemonademan22 (talk) 22:20, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It has so often been the case here that the date of the announcement is assumed to be the death date, which can lead to citogenesis on the part of some (no doubt well-meaning) sources. Most of the initial reports included some wording to the effect of "[additional] information regarding his passing is still being gathered.", so I think it is could be better to err on the side of caution. NYTimes, one of the more high-quality sources, also states that "It was not immediately clear when Brunk died" [2], and the Detroit Free Press states that "A cause or time of Sabu's death has not been disclosed." [3] Connormah (talk) 15:35, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, sorry. I'm not really familiar with Wikipedia etiquette. RVD says that Sabu's name is Terry Brunk, not Terrence and that he was born in 1963. Unless we get state records, I would take this as confirmation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILDNXGUNNn4 Majaura (talk) 23:45, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Majaura No you're fine, we're all still learning, I am especially.
To answer your question, we need a proper reliable source stating his real name is Terry and not Terrence. RVD, in my opinion at least, doesn't have a terrific track record in keeping his facts in order. So I can't confidently say that RVD is a reliable source to include. Also, about the birth date, the New York Times and an additional source confirm via court records that he was 61 years at old at the time of his death. Putting his birth date in 1963 or 1964, we would need a verifiable source in order to change that. Lemonademan22 (talk) 11:43, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I feel like unless we get state records, there's no better source than RVD - who is also in touch with Sabu's sister and has known him for decades on an extremely close level. The NYT article also removed the age from the headline of their article because there's a lot of misinformation going around, I think they had him listed as 61 though. I'm fully convinced his name is Terry Brunk, he was born in Michigan, and he was 61, but unless we can look at records, we have nothing else to go on except RVD, the person who was arguably closest with him. I'm sure other people can verify what RVD is saying. The article should be changed to reflect that. The current sources for ages, names, and birth places have little to no weight and are also based on the Joey Janela GCW match. I also know he was born in Michigan, and I think specifically Lansing but I'm not 100% sure on the city. These are things that people close to him know, but aren't immediately obvious to learn on the internet. Majaura (talk) 15:33, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Majaura I do not mean to be harsh in what I say to you, so do not take offense to anything in this. However, RVD is literally smoking a joint in the video. He is also very clearly high and is audibly mumbling and losing his train of thought. Also, if you are in a position to go "I think" then do not edit whatever the subject matter is, that is original research. In addition to the aforementioned points, it doesn't matter if you are convinced of anything, Wikpedia is not ran by speculation, it is ran by sources. Good luck. Lemonademan22 (talk) 15:37, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand what sources you have, though. I don't think me thinking Lansing is good enough either, but I know he's from Michigan at the least and grew up working in The Sheik's Detroit territory. RVD is also not losing his train of thought. Smoking weed doesn't automatically make something invalid. I think RVD would know information about his actual real life friend of decades rather than you saying he wouldn't. If you can show me actual state records, then that would be awesome but until then the article should be changed to reflect what RVD is saying, especially since there probably won't be a better source. Where do you think all of these sources got their information from? Majaura (talk) 15:46, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There is no backing RVD's words. He isn't reliable, please read WP:RS to find out what a reliable source actually is. And since you asked here are the two references backing his unknown birth date: [4] [5] including the New York Times. Also state records aren't allowed to be used as sources per WP:BLPPRIMARY. And yet again, the whole "RVD knew Sabu for decades" is original research I don't need to prove much as I have the references to back up my edits, you need to do the same if you wish to make any changes. Lemonademan22 (talk) 15:57, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, and the one article you linked has his name listed as "Terry Brun"...I don't think the one article is valid as a source. NYT makes sense, and also has his name listed as "Terry" in the NYT article. At the the very least can we get the guy's name corrected as Terry? Majaura (talk) 17:06, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Majaura I did not actually see that, so I will throw my hands up on this one and admit you're right. Still though it does report similar stuff from the New York Times and a related Yahoo! article but regardless. As for the name, you'll need a source, however one thing you could do is try to get a consensus on Sabu's talk page, simply start a new topic and explain your reasoning as to why you think it should be changed. I can't say people will for sure agree with you, but Wikipedia is about co-operative volunteers that need to communicate with one another, so I say give that a shot. Good luck. Stop icon Your recent editing history at Sabu (wrestler) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NJZombie (talk) 22:14, 17 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hello, Lemonademan22. Your comment during editing the Forbidden Door (2025) page didn't really make sense to me. WP:PIPED only applies to the links in the event chronology field, it doesn't make sense to delete the whole thing. Thoughts?

@YeedyYaada What I meant was Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking. It's a good read, you'll understand linking a bit more then. I thought WP:PIPED redirect to there, or at least I thought it used to, my mistake.
Also I apologise for yesterday's speedy deletion incident, I've undone all the tags that are still on them. I thought they had no practical application, but I hadn't thought about the alternate names critea. Lemonademan22 (talk) 14:16, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's alright. Water under the bridge, eh. Thank you for your response, and have a good day.
