September 11 is known in the United States as 9/11, the day four planes crashed into the World Trade Center twin towers in New York City, New York, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania by 19 Middle Eastern hijackers of Al-Qaeda in 2001.
