Mayor Jefry Traske is a supporting character in the 2022 Disney+ Halloween comedy-fantasy film Hocus Pocus 2. He is the mayor of Salem, father of Cassie Traske, and descendant of Reverend Traske.
Background[]
Mayor Traske is a well-meaning but inept politician who tries to keep Salem's Halloween tradition alive despite the protests of some residents who want to modernize the town. He is unaware of the existence of magic and the history of his ancestors until he encounters the Sanderson sisters, who recognize him as their old enemy and seek revenge on him and his daughter. The mayor initially tries to reason with the witches, but soon realizes that they are dangerous. He then joins forces with Becca, Izzy, Gilbert, and Mike to stop them from casting the Magicae Maxima spell, which would make them all-powerful.
The mayor also provides humor and levity to the film by making awkward jokes and comments that embarrass his daughter and himself. He also has a habit of losing his place in line at various events, such as the Halloween parade and the town hall meeting. He has a friendly rivalry with Mayor Benson of Marblehead, a neighboring town that competes with Salem for tourism and prestige. He also has a crush on Missy, a local reporter who covers his activities.
