After nearly five years of keeping Takoma caffeinated, indie java shop La Mano Coffee Bar is closing up for good on Monday, March 5.
The neighborhood coffeehouse and bakery (304 Carroll Street NW) uses beans from Annapolis-based Ceremony Coffee Roasters, offering Chemex, pour-over, French press, and cold brew options alongside made-from-scratch items like its signature hand pies.
“There were many reasons leading to this decision, with a desire to spend more time with my family being the most important,” writes co-owner Javier Rivas on Facebook.
The Modern Times Coffeehouse alum hints at “a possible new future” for La Mano in a different location down the line.
Expect specials and sales throughout February in order to move goods and merchandise. Starting on Monday, February 5, hours were reduced to 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the week and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
