Along for the ride

Washington Business Journal is following career changers Niranjan Sathindran and Srividhya “Sri” Ganesan as they try their hand at the hospitality field by opening South Indian-themed Agni Restaurant and Bar in Sterling, Virginia. The couple’s debut restaurant is very much a work in progress, but they already know one thing for sure: “There’s not going to be a chicken tikka masala.”

Expansions

Local chain Glory Days Grill is unveiling its latest restaurant (6341 Columbia Pike) at newly renovated Barcroft Plaza in Falls Church, Virginia, with a grand opening celebration (5 p.m. to 9 p.m.) featuring discounted baby back ribs ($10.99), $4 drafts of Samuel Adams beer, and free cake.

Ch-ch-changes

A tipster alerts Popville that neighborhood eatery Hilltop in Columbia Heights is doing some retooling. “We’re closed this month while we update our kitchen and expand our menu. See you soon!” reads a sign posted on the front door.

Meanwhile, new arrival Naf Naf Grill is also fine-tuning its operation. QSR reports that the burgeoning chain is now going by Naf Naf Middle Eastern Grill to help distinguish it from competitors.
