Homegrown chain Pizzeria Paradiso is getting more playful as it matures, replacing the subterranean beer bar at its 16-year-old Georgetown location with a new gaming mecca packed with Skee-Ball, pinball, and video games.
Formerly dubbed Birreria Paradiso, the updated Paradiso Game Room features a rotating list of 50 canned beers ($5 to $14) along with eight draft lines reserved for independently owned and operated breweries.
Multi-task by knocking back cold ones while racking up high scores on nine different arcade games or taking command of the jukebox ($0.50 cents to $4). Happy hour runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday with $4 drafts, $5 house wines, $7 appetizers, and discounted pizzas ($12 for a 9-inch pie; $18 for a 12-inch pizza). The full menu from Pizzeria Paradiso will be available downstairs.
The new bar crawl option for Georgetown University students is projected to stay open every day until 1 a.m. The tony neighborhood has another interactive option nearby in four-year-old Pinstripes Bowling Alley.
Status: Scheduled to open at 5 p.m. 3282 M Street NW (enter off Potomac Street); website.
