The Shutter

Seasonal watering hole Cantina Marina is shutting down for at least at few years on Saturday, October 28.

“It's been a heck of a ride, and we'll talk more about things later, but we hope to see you all soon,” management alerted the legion of happy hour revelers that flood into the laid-back bar every summer. The plan, it appears, is to reopen once the entirety of the mile-long Wharf complex is complete (2020 to 2021, per Cantina Marina’s calculation). For now, the owners will focus on getting their new music venue, Pearl Street Warehouse, ready for the anticipated October 12 opening of the first phase of the Wharf.

Switcheroos

Per Bethesda, local chain Moby Dick House of Kabob is planning to take over the space at 7023 Wisconsin Avenue, and intends to resurrect Stromboli at another location some time next year.

Out and about

A pair of dining enthusiasts on food board Chowhound offer up some observations about new Uyghur restaurant Silk Road in Falls Church, Va. The consensus: there’s chicken, lamb, and noodle dishes — including an early favorite of fried Toksun-style noodles — worth exploring.

How to score free tacos
