Abydos (ȝbḏw) Abdjw

English: Abydos was a sacred city in Ancient Egypt. The site was famous because of Osiris worship who replace oldest worship of the jackal god Wepwawet. Today it's one of the most important archaeological site in Egypt because of an ininterrupt occupation since the Predynsatic périod to the end of Ancient Times. Necropolis, temples and towns of every epochs formed an extraordinary "book" on ancient funerary customs and worship of ancient egyptian beliefs. More...

Français : Abydos était une citée sacrée de l'Égypte antique. Elle était réputée pour le culte d'Osiris qui remplaça l'antique culte d' Oupouaout, le dieu des nécropoles à tête de chacal.
