Joys of aging, not

I like to send Amazon gift cards to my great nieces in California for Christmas and their birthdays.  My nephew is very good about sending thank you videos from the kids.  His 2 year old is so cute, she has trouble pronouncing certain letters of the alphabet.  So I have been replaying her little thank you video many times.  'Thank you Auntie Chrispine'.  It gives me such a chuckle everytime.    It is the cutest age.

In other news my blood cholesterol has been inching up over the last year.  The doctor thought I should start taking medication to start treating it earlier rather than later.  In fact, he says he is on cholesterol meds himself.  So I started last week on Rosuvastatin it is called.  It can have side effects that I have to be aware of over the next 6-8 weeks (Jaundice and muscle pain).   In addition to that my blood sugar level went to 6.1 which means I am prediabetic. Anything above 6.0 is considered prediabetic. To this point I had no problem with these things so I am calling it the joys of aging, not.

Happy Boxing Day anyway.

My cholesterol has been high...I mean, really really high, but I don't worry about it at all.
My a1c is 5.4, fasting insulin 1.71 (which is too low) and tri. 54 and gosh my HDL is about 100...My family doc. didn't want me to take pills at all. Cholesterol is not a bad guy, you need cholesterol for every cell in your body. To lower your blood sugar, try keto or at least low carbs plus fasting..it works like magic.

Hang in there. Stay busy..but not too busy. All the best to your health and making those adjustments. Also, it seems those doctors move those guidelines around too.

As Angie's Recipes said, you might want to do some research before taking your doctor's recommendations for pharmaceuticals. It's amazing what diet and exercise can do.

Thanks Kathy, 2 of my sisters also thought I should hold back on more meds but I decided to listen to my doctor which I tend to do.

My husband struggles with high cholesterol, too, Christine. His doctor recently put him on Repatha (not sure about the spelling) which seems to be helping.
Have a wonderful New Year!

It is nice that you get thank you videos from the youngsters. So many kids now are not taught that. Have a lovely day today.

I'm thinking though you'll be able to get your sugar down quick - Are you going to work on foods to help lower cholesterol?

Ivy we do eat red meat more than chicken right now so room for improvement there for sure.

Martha thanks for letting me know about Repatha.

It's wonderful that you stay connected with your great nieces in California, and the thank-you video from the 2-year-old sounds adorable! Hearing such sweet moments must indeed bring a lot of joy.

As for health matters, it's commendable that you're proactive in addressing any concerns. Taking steps to manage cholesterol and blood sugar levels is crucial, and it's great that you have the support of your doctor. Wishing you a smooth journey with the new medication, and may you navigate the joys of aging with resilience and good health. Happy Boxing Day!

Don't eat ice cream. It is high in sugar and saturated fat.

They discovered I had high cholesterol in my 20's. Although taking meds is never a good thing, I've been on meds for decades and my cholesterol is good. I have learned I genetic high cholesterol, but for me, it's better to have it under control. Hope you work everything out well.

My Niece called me ISA. That´s actually for internal job search, LOL!
They tell Ingo is prediabetic, too. Who is not??? There is a lot docs sell to make money. I had an honest one who said, "this med is of no use, let go!" It made no difference indeed.
Maybe get a second opinion?

I sometimes have to wonder about the benefits of certain medications - especially when they cause more possible problems. Good luck.

Little kids with speech impediments are so cute. I hated when mine spoke properly. :)

I'm glad you are not having any side effects! I hope all continues to go well in your health. XO
