Campaign website

The following themes were listed on Cherfilus-McCormick's campaign website.

Economic Justice

I will go to Congress and be a solid vote for increasing the minimum wage to $20.00 per hour. I also fully support both the Paycheck Fairness Act and Grace Meng’s Marshall Plan for Moms. I am a firm believer in the Union movement, and I will make it my mission to stand with workers in support of the PRO ACT.

Medicare For All

It is unconscionable that we live in the world’s richest nation and all can’t afford quality healthcare. Medicare for All will be one of my main priorities. As a CEO of a health care company, I am uniquely qualified to advocate for the passage of this legislation. Medicare for All should be a human right and I will work hard for its passage.

Support Our Seniors

I will fight to pass my People’s Prosperity Plan which enriches all of our seniors. The $1,000 per month relief will be in addition to any benefits that are being received. These checks can be used to visit loved ones, spend on housing or health care needs, and act as a backstop for any unexpected expenses that may arise.

Green New Deal

The Green New Deal must get a vote in Congress. Our environment must be protected for the future of our children and the next generation. Bold steps must be taken to ensure that we have clean water and breath clean air. Climate Change is real! We must combat its adverse effects on our precious natural resources at all cost.

Immigration Reform

Immigration Reform must happen this year. We have Democrat majorities in Congress. NOW IS THE TIME to pass a Pathway to Citizenship Bill. A vote must be taken and a Law enacted that will protect our neighbors from being discriminated against simply because they were not born in this country.

Legalize Cannabis

Now is the time to legalize and TAX cannabis! Many people are being incarcerated for crimes in Florida that would not be in other states. We can't wait for the GOP in Tallahassee to pass this legislation. We need a national policy on cannabis and I will fight hard to get this forward thinking idea passed in Congress!

LGBTQ+ Rights

There’s much to be done regarding LGBTQ rights. I am a proud supporter of the Equality Act and I will lobby hard with the Human Rights Campaign when I get to Congress for its passage. This law will codify the Supreme Court ruling that said employers who fire workers for being gay are violating civil rights law.

Reproductive Rights

We must repeal the Hyde Amendment. For too long women have been discriminated against when it comes to reproductive rights. Our Democrat majority must go back and undo the bad bills passed by Republican’s when they held our nation hostage. The GOP must stop telling women what to do with their own bodies![28][29]

House Ethics Committee investigation (2023-2024)

On December 27, 2023, the House Ethics Committee announced that they were investigating Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick in regards to complaints that she allegedly violated campaign finance laws, failed to file required disclosures, and engaged in unethical hiring practices.

“As the Ethics Committee said in its statement, the mere fact of establishing an investigative subcommittee does not itself indicate that any violation occurred,” said Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick’s spokesperson, Jonathan Levin. “Regardless, the Congresswoman takes these matters seriously and is working to resolve them.”[30]
