House Committees

Per Section V of the Senate Rules, committees of the Washington State Senate are appointed by the President of the Senate and confirmed by the senate.[1] For the Rules Committee, specifically, the Lieutenant Governor serves as a voting member and chair. The President Pro Tempore serves as a voting member and vice-chair.

All committees are responsible for considering measures referred to them in the interest of the state.[2] The deliberations of committees considering a vote on any bill, resolution, or memorial must be open to the public.[3]
