Rishi Bagga is an attorney, former prosecutor, and successful East Orlando small business owner who believes in fairness, justice, and common sense solutions.

Rishi was born in Toronto, Canada where his dad worked as a taxicab driver and his mom as a bank assistant after they both left India for a better future. His family eventually purchased a small 26-room motel which his parents ran together and lived in. When he was 10 years old, his family came to Orlando, Florida on vacation; they eventually bought a struggling hotel in the city where Rishi and his family lived and worked at until he was 17 years old.

Rishi attended Orange County Public Schools and UCF and eventually became a lawyer. After law school, Rishi became a prosecutor at the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office, where he prosecuted domestic violence crimes, juvenile offenses, and serious felony cases. Once he left the state, he has represented small and large businesses in a variety of civil matters and has been a leader and advocate at the national level.

In addition to his legal work, Rishi and his family still own and operate a successful family-owned hotel business in the East Orlando/Alafaya area. He sits on numerous local boards and associations in the Orlando area and has been recognized as for his service and successes.

Rishi lives in the Stoneybrook East neighborhood in the East Orlando/Alafaya area with his wife Shelly and their 22-month-old son, Gyan.

  • A Smarter Florida - Improving public education by funding teachers and schools; foster an open environment in schools and reversing “culture war” bans on education.
  • A Safer Florida - Improving public safety by encouraging transparent policing, common sense gun safety regulation, and treatment and rehabilitation instead of overincarceration.
  • A Healthier Florida - Improving the health of Floridians by working to expand Medicaid immediately, ensuring access to affordable, high quality reproductive healthcare including abortion, promoting public health by encouraging science-based policymaking.

I am an attorney and small business owner. As a former prosecutor, I worked hard to fight for victims of domestic violence and successfully prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases. I have fought hard to represent my clients as an attorney. As a small business owner and hotelier, I understand the importance of growing Florida’s economy while making sure that everyone has a fair chance to succeed.

If elected, I would use my experience to bring informed, practical leadership to Tallahassee to advocate for a stronger public school system, higher pay for Florida’s teachers, better health policy, common sense public safety legislation, and prosperity for all Floridians.

I grew up in a family-owned and operated motel business. My earliest memories are of helping my parents clean rooms in our family hotel by vacuuming and stocking bathrooms with toilet paper. I spend all of high school working at our family hospitality business; I installed and serviced all of our hotel systems, including our hotel room electronic locks, front desk computer systems, and other electronics. In some respects, I have never left this job; my family still owns and operates a hotel business and, in addition to being an owner and administrator, I continue to assist with maintenance of facilities and systems.

Other than the family business, I took an additional job at SeaWorld of Florida where I was an intern in the Human Resources department. I worked there through high school and halfway through college.
