Mary Kathryn Hoff was a judge on the Eastern District of the Missouri Court of Appeals. She served from 1995 to 2021.
Hoff was appointed to the court in December 1995 by Democratic Governor Mel Carnahan and retained in 1998. She was retained again in 2010. Hoff's peers elected her chief judge in 2020, effective January 1, 2021.[1] She retired on August 2, 2021.[2][3]
Education
Hoff was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She earned a B.S. in education from the University of Missouri at Columbia and a J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law.[2]
Career
Hoff began her legal career in 1978 as an assistant public defender in St. Louis. She practiced law from 1982 until May 1989, when she was appointed as a circuit judge. She held this position until her appointment to the court of appeals in 1995.[2]
