Biography
Mary Ann Shallcross-Smith lives in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Shallcross-Smith graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970. She earned an associate degree in early childhood education and human services in 1982, a bachelor's degree in human services from the University of Rhode Island in 1985, a master's degree in counseling from Rhode Island College in 1989, and a doctorate in youth studies/leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 1995. Shallcross-Smith's career experience includes owning Dr. Day Care Inc.[1]

Shallcross Smith ran in the 2012 election for Rhode Island House of Representatives District 46. Shallcross Smith was defeated by incumbent Jeremiah O'Grady (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
2010
Shallcross-Smith ran unsuccessfully for re-election to the 46th District seat in 2010. Jeremiah O'Grady defeated her in the September 14 Democratic primary.[4] O'Grady faced Republican Matthew Guerra and independents Paul Didomenico and C. Kevin McCarthy in the general election on November 2, 2010.
