Moffatt was a candidate for an at-large seat on the Palmdale School District Board of Trustees that was up for general election on November 5, 2013.

Jeffrey D. Moffatt is a tax attorney and has lived in the Antelope Valley for 23 years. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Iowa State University, his M.B.A. from Pepperdine University, and his J.D. from Glendale University College of Law. He is the owner of the Law Office of Jeffrey D. Moffatt and has one son enrolled in Palmdale School District.

He defeated Bryan Caforio (D) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Knight and Caforio defeated Jeffrey Moffatt (R) and Lou Vince (D) in the top-two primary on June 7, 2016.[2][3][4][5][6][7]
