California's 25th Congressional District was a battleground district in 2016. Incumbent Stephen Knight (R) won re-election to his second term in 2016. Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Vince's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Tackling the Drought: The state of California and the local counties and cities are fighting hard to tackle the drought while Congress does nothing. We need to work with our state and local partners to utilize the federal government’s vast resources to tackle the drought and ensure a sustainable future using creative solutions.
  • Standing Up for the Local Environment: I will advocate against the Chiquita Canyon Landfill expansion and for cleaning up the Santa Susana Field Laboratory as well as the Whittaker-Bermite lot and permanently ending all mining in Soledad Canyon.
  • Combating Climate Change: The federal government needs to follow California’s lead and move towards a greener and more sustainable future to minimize the impacts of climate change on future generations.
  • Rebuilding Our Crumbling Infrastructure: We need to ensure a stable, long-term source of funding for infrastructure investment and create good-paying jobs to put the people in our district and in the entire nation back to work. This is a nonpartisan issue that needs to be addressed to improve everyone’s lives, stimulate the economy and make America’s infrastructure world-class once again.
  • Reforming Our Banking System: Banks that were too big to fail are now even bigger than before the 2008 crash. We need to re-implement the Glass-Stegall Act to ensure that Wall Street doesn’t gamble with Main Street’s money. We have bailed out the bankers before and we don’t need to do it again at the expense of the middle class.
