Ballotpedia biographical submission form

The candidate completed Ballotpedia's biographical information submission form:

What is your political philosophy?

Liberal. Congress should work for the people, not the big banks, corporations or other special interests. The highest ranking position in a democracy is citizen. I hope to serve the residents of Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan with humility, honesty, compassion and integrity.

Is there anything you would like to add?

Incumbents in our Congress (both Democrat and Republican) take the majority of their campaign money from corporate political action committees (PACs) and other special interest PACs and lobbyists. This money then controls our politics and policy and law, enabling corporate profit over our general welfare. Life is so hard now for so many of us and there is so much poverty in our country and communities because our politicians and policies have valued shareholders over workers, profit over the environment and corruption over common sense. When elected, I pledge to never take PAC or lobbyist money. My sole duty will be to promoting our general welfare.

Some policies I will support and fight for:

Paid Parental Leave

Medicare for All

Universal Pre-K

Student loan forgiveness

Economic incentives for freelancers, small businesses and artists

Building new public housing

Updating our current public housing to modern standards

Investing in solar, wind and other renewable energies

Regulating and taxing the legal sale of cannabis

Building more schools and community space

Reducing taxes for small business owners, freelancers and caregivers

Universal basic income to ensure that no person has to live in poverty and local economies can flourish.[4]

—Jeff Kurzon[1]

The following issues were listed on Kurzon's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Housing: New York's 7th Congressional is economically less well-off as compared to the rest of the country. Due to our housing crisis, the cost of living as compared to incomes is unbearable for too many. NYCHA is mismanaged and we need to build more mixed-income housing.
  • Animal Rights: Is Jeff Kurzon a dog or a cat person? Jeff Kurzon believes we can do a lot better to protect animal rights to help our environment and fulfill our ethical and moral obligations as custodians of a sustainable Earth.
  • Campaign Finance Reform and Government Transparency: The time is now to get big money out of politics and to end the corruption that has plagued our country for too long. We can enact campaign finance reform to make our government more honest and accountable to the needs of the people, not the corporations.
  • Economy / "Jobs, jobs, jobs!": The key to sustainable, long-term economic growth is a flourishing middle class. Jeff believes the key to our future as a nation is strengthening the middle class and reducing wealth and income inequality. We can do this by helping workers and small businesses.
  • Environment: Jeff believes that the destruction of our environment is directly linked to our incumbent politicians' thirst for big money from the meat and fossil fuel industries.
