|I'm excited to bring the voice of a nurse and working mom to the Senate. I will work to improve our healthcare system, create a more fair tax code for seniors, families and working people, ensure every kid gets a great education, and protect our environment for generations to come.
Unlike Senator Mullet, I am not taking campaign contributions from corporations or corporate PACs because I believe that their outsized influence should be reduced in our elections and in the Legislature.
It's time for new leadership, new vision, a new direction to tackle the challenges we face.- Healthcare and COVID-19 - I am a nurse, who sees every day how the design of our current healthcare system fails to deliver the best outcomes for our communities - treatment is too expensive, care is inaccessible, and patient and caregiver safety is an afterthought. I am committed to reevaluating our healthcare system and pandemic preparedness. When the legislature reconvenes next year, we will need legislators with strong healthcare backgrounds to help ensure our state is better prepared for the next outbreak or public health emergency. My relationship with the healthcare system doesn't start with Hospital CEOs and end with pharmaceutical lobbyists - instead, my priorities for reform are shaped by my experience and that of my fellow healt
- Affordability - I'm so grateful to have called the Snoqualmie Valley home for nearly three decades. This is a wonderful community and an excellent place to raise a family, but for too many, the sustainability of this community is at risk, as neighbors are being pushed out by rising housing costs and property taxes. We have to reduce the weight of property taxes that hit seniors, working families, and those on a fixed income the hardest. My opponent has vocally opposed many measures of progressive, alternative revenue - including a tax on giant banks like his former employer. When I'm in the Senate, I will work to close corporate loopholes and create a more equitable tax system. I will also push for additional resources into the Housing Trus
- Workers' Rights - In a time of massive economic uncertainty, we need leaders who are committed to putting the interests of working people first. I have been a union member for over twenty years as a grocery clerk and a nurse, and I've seen how challenging it can be to achieve safe workplaces, fair compensation, and good benefits without strong unions, laws to protect workers, and supportive leaders in the Legislature. I'm proud to be endorsed by some of our region's most prominent labor organizations who know that I will be a fighter for our district's working families. I am committed to innovating new programs, building on existing protections, and working collaboratively to create an economic environment where we can all thrive.
