Gary Tyack (Democratic Party) was the Franklin County Prosecutor in Ohio. He assumed office on January 4, 2021. He left office on January 5, 2025.
Tyack (Democratic Party) ran for election for Franklin County Prosecutor in Ohio. He won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Tyack is a former judge for the Ohio Tenth District Court of Appeals. He served for the first time on this court from 1986 to 1987. He was elected again to this position in 1990.[1] In the November 2002 election, he was defeated by Lisa Sadler, and he left the court in 2003. Tyack was re-elected for the third time on November 7, 2006, and assumed office on February 10, 2007. He served until February 8, 2019.[2][3][4]
Biography
Education
Tyack received his B.A. degree in religion and math from the College of Wooster in 1968. After working on mathematics graduate work at the University of Wisconsin in Madison (1971-1972), he earned his J.D. from the Ohio State University College of Law in 1974. In 2000, he received his master's degree in theological studies from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio.[4]
Career
Tyack began his career in 1975 as a private practice lawyer. He then joined the 10th District Court of Appeals in 1986, but returned to the private law practice the next year. He worked in this capacity until 1991, when he joined the 10th District Court of Appeals for the second time. He also worked as an adjunct professor at the Capital University Law School in 1992 and served as a faculty member of the Ohio Judicial College. During his time on the bench, Tyack also held the position of presiding judge (1997), administrative judge (1996, 2001) and visiting judge with various courts, including with the Ohio Supreme Court (1991-1997).[4]
