"I've spent a lot of time on the Avatar fan wiki. It's extraordinary. You could live there for a year and never come out again. There's so much hard work put into that."
Mystery of Penquan Island is a graphic novel set in the Avatar universe, following Mako and Bolin. In consultation with Avatar Studios, the book was authored by Kiku Hughes, drawn by Alex Monik, and colored by Diana Sousa. Originally scheduled for release on February 26, 2025, it was released on March 4.
Mako and Bolin set off towards Penquan Island in the Fire Nation to find answers to a case—and maybe a little bit of their past along the way.
When a strange missing persons case falls into his lap, Mako is forced to choose between his job and doing what he feels is right! An upturned room and an unhelpful witness aren't promising starts to the investigation, but when his brother Bolin comes across a surprising clue that ties their own mother to the case, the pair embark on a journey to the small, rustic island of Penquan. The island's inhabitants seem to have things to hide, and the brothers are determined to get to the bottom of it—even if it means uncovering uncomfortable parts of their family's past.
Varrimovers International, also known simply as VI, is a film production company based in Republic City. It was founded by Iknik Blackstone Varrick as a subsidiary of Varrick Global Industries after he invented the motion picture projector. While Varrimovers International pioneered the world's mover industry, the company began to lag behind rivals after Varrick decided to focus on other projects.
Shortly after the outbreak of the Water Tribe Civil War in 171 AG, Varrick returned to Republic City, where he began to film the first mover developed for public screening, The Adventures of Nuktuk: Hero of the South. The mover contained anti-Unalaq propaganda and aimed to sway the collective sentiment of the United Republic in support of the Southern Water Tribe against their northern counterpart. The film garnered favorable responses not only for its riveting action sequences but also among the youth demographic, enjoying substantial popularity. Presented in an episodic format, an elaborate premiere was organized for the final showing of Nuktuk. This event saw the attendance of President Raiko, First Lady Buttercup Raiko, and the Republic City press.
The Avatar Wiki is never complete and could always still be improved upon. Unsure where and how to start? Don't hesitate to ask your fellow editor or an administrator, or check out the community to-do list:
Category:Needs help — generally, the pages listed in this category are pages that could do with a massive rewrite to be in line with this wiki's Manual of Style.
Category:Under construction — this is a collection of pages that still await completion. There is still information missing, so feel free to elaborate and finish the page to make sure that all the details are accounted for.
Improvement Article of the Week — The chosen article will have a grammar review, missing information will be added, correction of page structure, adding images when needed, etc. The goal is to make significant improvements but remember that quality, and not quantity, is what matters.
Transcript pages — several episode and comic transcripts could do with additional scene description, and some comics don't even have a transcript yet.
Chronicles of the Avatar — Creation of chapter pages of the novels and the updating/creation of pages for people, locations, creatures, and events that are dealt within the novels.
