The Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine (ULAM), part of the U-M Medical School Office of Research, offers a variety of specialized business and research support services to meet the ever-evolving needs of the U-M research community.
The ULAM Business Office is available to assist investigators and support staff with questions and concerns pertaining to the many business aspects associated with managing an animal care and use project, including:
ULAM also offers a variety of fee-for-service research support services to investigators with limited personnel, equipment, and/or space resources.
Current service offerings include:
- Anesthetic machine certification and rental
- Animal surgery operating rooms
- Germ-free mouse facility
- Breeding colony
- ULAM Pathology Core – including pathology, histology, and animal clinical pathology laboratory testing
- Technical services – such as animal monitoring, compound administration, animal identification and genotyping, and more
