Button quail thread!!

Thanks. I put soil down first, then added the mulch. I've never used pine shavings. But I've had great success with my deep litter method so far.
Oh, okay because I use pine shavings and they are really not great they smell a lot and get wet easily how often do you change and add new soil/ mulch. Because I'm thinking of doing that instead, and also do you just get everything from outside? Or do you buy soil and mulch bags just for that?

I got everything from outside except the mulch and sand. I find that mulch helps a lot with the smell.

Hey all! Super new to this and kind of unexpectedly, but I have four buttons that I hatched 5 weeks ago (thread here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/chaos-gremlin-tries-to-hatch-eggs-again.1642183/). They're molting a bit and getting adult feathers! They're out of the brooder and in their new enclosure as of last week.

I have 3 males and 1 female but there's suggestions that they get along better if raised together. So far so good at least. They're all very attached to each other from what I can see.

Absolutely love these little birds. Here they are in order of hatch:

Bevy (male) - friendly, trusting, loves meal worms and spray millet

Kiwi (male) - social, ditzy, not fussed by the god hand when food arrives

Peckard (female) - chill, not fussy and so tired of her brothers' antics

THORGUN THE DESTROYER aka Thor (male) - curious but cautious, leader, is ready to throw down with the shelf liner

So happy to introduce them all here!
