- "I've been thinkin' about bringing on some more crew, Rey. A second mate. Someone to help out. Someone who can keep up with Chewie and me, appreciates the Falcon."
"Are you offering me a job?"
"I wouldn't be nice to you. It doesn't pay much."
"You're offering me a job."
"I'm thinking about it. Well?"
"If you were, I'd be flattered. But I have to get home." - ―Han Solo and Rey
Second mate was a title used aboard a starship's crew.[1] In 34 ABY,[2] the smuggler Han Solo offered the scavenger Rey the opportunity to be the second mate on his ship, the Millennium Falcon, as he was looking for more crew to help himself and Chewbacca. Rey, however, declined the offer as she felt she had to return to Jakku.[1]
