Top 10 in 2010

We are coming to the end of 2010. For me it has been a year of adventure and detours. For years we talked about building a home on lakefront property that we own. And for years, there has always been a reason not to. So we started looking at already built houses. We looked for almost a year before we found the one that became "our" home.

Now let me say that we did not really expect to find this house. My hubby decided to have a new roof put on our old house, and we replaced the AC unit last December. New appliances replacing the aging ones and a floor remodel in our laundry room when the washer decided to spring a healthy leak.

When we walked into the new house for the first time, we all fell in love. BUT being the family accountant, I knew we couldn't buy it. I did not set me heart on it. However, it just kept coming back. The owners had put this house on the market a year ago with no offers. Took it off the market and then decided to try again. Here is where we entered in. When we made our first offer it was WAY lower then their list price. They countered, but it was still too high. So we countered again. Their realtor basically said, if you can't meet our price, don't bother to come back. Death of a vision.

Not having set my heart on this house made it easier to let it go. But it was still lingering in the back of my mind. We compared it with any other house we looked at. After a month went by, my hubby called our realtor and asked him what could we do about the house? Wise realtor that he was he said, make another offer! So we did. And they took it!!!!

So amid packing and moving, there was not much creating going on. After being in the new house for a month, I had another little detour. A fall resulting in a compression fracture of my spine.

So now what seems like months and months, I am finally getting back into the full swing of life.

And yet there were some things accomplished!

ITW

Do you have projects that will never get finished in 2010?? Ha, ha, me too :-)

My daughter made this quilt top a few years ago when we both made this pattern that was published in a magazine.

I think it will be the first one to be quilted on the Bernina in the New Year.

And during our move this summer, there were some ITW (in the works) projects that resurfaced. So I have put them on the list for completion in 2011.

I actually started this quilt a couple of years ago, but completely forgot about it. I even bought black batting to use.

A year ago when I sprained my right foot I picked up the knitting needles again. But it was not until my fall this summer that I actually made anything.

I love the fun "eyelash" yarn, so I've been working on scarves. I think I've made 5 so far.
And this one is in the works :-)

I hope your day is full of sunshine today. We are heading for some typical balmy 70 degree days.

Happy Quilting :-)

Christmas Prayer

Christmas Prayer

Loving Father, help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the Song of the Angels,
the Gladness of the Shepherds,
and the Worship of the Wise Men.

Close the door of hate
and open the door of Love all over the world.
Let Kindness come with every gift
and Good Desires with every greeting.

Deliver us from evil by the Blessing which Christ brings,
and Teach us to be merry with Clear Hearts.

May the Christmas morning make us happy to be Thy Children
and the Christmas evening bring us to our beds with
Grateful Thoughts, Forgiving and Forgiven.

For Jesus' Sake........ Amen

~ Robert Louis Stevenson ~

It's the most wonderful time of the year

I have a couple of sweet little Christmas helpers.

Here is little Raggedy Annie as she helps wrap gifts.

She was a prize last year from Cheryl at Polka Dot and Rick Rack.

And this cutie pie traveled a very long way to my house.

She was a Christmas in July prize from Barb's Creations. She is a seasoned traveler as she traveled half way around the world. But she mostly likes to sit and keep an eye on the presents under the tree.

Our table is set to welcome company.

Little Snowmen finding a place to settle in for the winter.

It surely is the most wonderful time of the year. Check back tomorrow for a final look around :-)

Happy Quilting!

A touch of Christmas cheer

This Christmas has been one of wonder and excitement as we decorated our new home. Having a new palette has inspired new avenues.

This is the first house where we have a fireplace.

It's been so fun to have a fire on a cold evening.

Catching some snowflakes and saving them in a bowl.

Listening for Carolers as they sing Glory to God in the Highest.

Little touches of color here and there.

Welcoming you as we light the way into our home.

What a lovely time of year to invite friends and family to share in food, fun and fellowship. Come back tomorrow for a little more of the tour.

Happy Quilting :-)

Finally !!!!!

For several years now, I have heard about Hobby Lobby. I visited it once while on a trip to Chicago three years ago. I loved their selection of crafts, decor and fabrics. Sadly we do not have a Hobby Lobby in our area.

At least not until now!

Woo-Hoo.............. Welcome Hobby Lobby :-)

Of course we had to check it out. I knew we were in trouble when we walked in the door.

Fun chicy stuff...........
My daughter said she could hear me and my sister in love squealing all over the store.

Yes, serious trouble!

What can I say?

We'll be back HL ;-D
