Crochet Cushion Color Bomb

First of all, Thanks to you all for all the nice and caring comments on my last post. I really appreciate it!

I've been working on some very happy Color Bomb Projects. This is one of them. And how happy it turned out!!

As you all know, I love to work with many colors. I love to make them work together. I really love the results of this effort. I used my own Circle In Square Pattern (free tutorial).

The front crochet panel is sewn onto a fabric base cushion cover with zipper. Don't you love the fabric of the back? It's so fresh and lovely.

I like the edging too. It's very simple, like most of the edgings I use. But it makes the colors pop and it compliments the cushion.

This Colorful Crochet Cushion Cover  is for sale in the Color 'n Cream Shop. I wish you all a very happy monday!

Pastel Crochet Cushion

Tadah!! Here it is. The Pastel Crochet Cushion Cover. I love how it turned out! It took me quite a while to finish though...  I used one of my old granny square patterns. This one has an edge too. A little white romantic edge.

I did the back in my usual way. It works lovely with the pink/white fabric and the yellow buttons. I added a little white edge on the back strip too. You can buy this Crochet Cushion Cover in my shop.

As you all know, I'm working on a tutorial on how to make a crochet cushion with a fabric back. The pictures are taken, I just need to finish the tutorial. And then finally you can all make your own!!

The little one is taking a nap here, on my craft room floor (on a mattress...). I always love to hear her breathe when sleeping. Oh, and yes, she is sick AGAIN... Poor little sweetheart. (Poor me too, hadn't had a normal night sleep since saturday)

Have a colorful day!

Friday Fun

Been having some fun with my new Flower Coaster Pattern. Think it's very pretty and flowery...

They are all available in my Etsy shop. They are all limited editions.

I also promised you the results of my new flower square project. This is it! It's very soft in color (for my standards anyway). It will also be available in my shop.

I like the back too. This is lovely fabric, isn't it? Oh, and there will be a tutorial on the Flower Square sometime too.

Well, that's it for now. It's almost weekend, but I'm laying in bed, a bit under the weather...

Have a flowery day!

First Scraps Project Finished!

Finally! My first scraps project is finished... It took me a while to finish of all the loose ends, or to make time for that anyway (since it's NO fun at all!!), but it's done. How do you like the result?

I think I can call it another Color Bomb, don't you. And all the color parts are made from scraps. Yes, scraps. I like the way the grey makes the little colorful centers pop out.

For the back I used a very pretty pink fabric. With red dots, as you can see. In this picture I hadn't added the silver edge yet.

Here I did. I really like the silver yarn. I found it a few months ago and totally forgot about it. Doesn't it give the cushion some extra character??

So, there are still many scraps left, and I have a few more ideas for projects. Some I even got started on already. But today I really felt like making some colorful flowers...

Not sure yet what I'll use them for. But I'll show you more, soon. (Than I will show you where some of the patterns came from too...)

Have  pretty monday!

Vintage Pillow

So it's finished. I love the way it turned out. And the cotton is very soft too. I have no pictures of the back yet, since the light just wasn't right. Show you sometime later. (I tried, but when I saw them on my screen it didn't work...)

I'm not totally sure where to put it yet. The colors are quite different from what I'm used to. What to do, what to do??

This is my very dear Piny Pon collection. I can never resist buying them because they're so pretty and colorful and happy. I finally found the right type case (is that the right word??) and painted it Vintage Blue... Don't they just lift up your spirit?

And for what I doing now... I've been wanting to use my scraps for ages. They just lay there in a nice basket, doing nothing, so I finally came with a plan. The scraps will be perfect for my square potholder idea. What do you think??

I love tuesday, 'cause it's MY day. No kids until dinner (which I don't have to cook, but my love does... Talk about luxury) and the whole house to myself. I've been sitting in my craft room all day. No cleaning, nog folding laundry, no fuzz at all.

So I will proceed doing that. Hope you have a lovely dat as well!

Something New

So I directly started designing new patterns to use the same lovely colors as in my Vintage Flower Blanket. This is one of the ideas I came up with. I aded the mustard and removed the light green. I like it. It's going to make a nice pillow for my new craft room.

The craft room will be finished soon, hopefully. I first have to make some pillows to make it complete. O and hang some pictures on the wall.

Well, Tell me what you think (since it's possible again...)

Less is...

Less is Bore. My motto for many years now. I love it! As you all know, I love Color Bombs. There's no such thing as too much color in my book. I tried something new with this pillow and I like it. do you??

It's kind of an odd size, so I had to make the pillow myself, but I think it will look great on our new couch (only 2 weeks now...).

I love the vintage fabric I used for the back. It's been laying around for years, happy to be finally using it!

I have a BIG pile of unfinished projects. My hands can't keep up with my imagination and I just keep adding more. So right now, I believe I have about ten projects on the go. Do you guys recognize this?? I want to finish some over the next few weeks... Next week I'll be spending some time alone (well, with our puppy) in the forest, thinking things over. And to relax (and CROCHET, CROCHET, CROCHET, probably).

I'm leaving the blog for a month or so, to let in some spring air and start fresh. I have to reorganize and sweep up the old stuff. Hope to see you once I'm back!

Flower Square Tutorial II

For all you readers a little tutorial on how to make these flower squares. I like this pattern 'cause it keeps the circle in an even shape. It's quite simple, check it out!

Stitches (US terms):
Slip Stitch (ss)
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)

Make a magic circle (as shown on the pic's) or chain 3 and join with a slip stitch.
Round 1: Ch 2, 11 dc into the circle, join with ss. You have a total of 12 stitches.

Round 2: Change color. Start in a space between 2 stitches. Ch 2, 1 dc into the same space. *Into the next space 2 dc*, repeat *to* 10 times, join with a ss.

Round 3: Change color. Start in a space between 2 2dc's from the previous round. Ch 2, 2 dc into the same space. Into the next space, *3 dc*, repeat *to* 10 times, join with ss.

Round 4: |Change color. Start in a space between 2 3 dc's from the previous round. Ch 4, *sc into a space between 2 3dc's from the previous round, ch 3*. Repeat *to* 10 times. Ch 2, join with a ss.  Ss around the ch 3 from the previous round (see pic's).
Round 5: Ch 2, 2 dc, ch3, 3dc (first corner). *3 hdc around the next ch 3, 3 hdc around the next ch 3, 3 dc, ch 3, 3dc round the next ch3*. Repeat *to* 2 times. 3hdc around the next ch 3, 3 hdc around the next ch 3, ch 1#, join with ss. (# optional)

Round 6: Change color. Use the usual granny square method to make the square bigger if you like (3 dc in each in between space and 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc into each corner).

These are the brands and colors I used:
White: Catania (Schachenmayr) nr. 0105
Blue: Catania (Schachenmayr) nr. 0385
Pink: Rio (Lammy) nr. 710
Salmon: Rio (Lammy) nr. 214
Yellow: Phildar (Phil Coton 3) nr. 0063

I used the join-as-you-go method to join the squares, (nice and easy) and around the joined squares I always do a round of  half double crochet grannies, 'cause it fits better than double crochet (try it, it's true).

Happy hookin'!

Spring Is In The Air

Don't you love the feeling that spring is nearing? I do. The light is different, birds start singing early in the morning. The light comes through the curtains before nine... I love the spring. When we were living in Thailand last year, that was the thing I missed most, Spring. You can just smell it when you're outside. And it doesn't matter to me that it still freezes. So I've started to work on some spring colored crochet and crafting.

I showed you the two sides of this pillow before it was finished. I really love the colors and that I can just flip it around for a complete different style, or color actually. It looks very retro to me, this pattern. It's very sunny.

This is what our temporary couch looks like and the poof in front, I got at the local thrift store and covered it with some new fabric I bought for this pupose. For the new couch I will make some matching cushions, I think.

I love how colorful and sunny my living room looks now. And I'm very curious what it's going to look like once the new couch finally arrives... Only 5 weeks to go...

Of course I had to start a new crochet project as well. I think it's going to e a table runner, but not sure yet. I really like these awfully sweet colors.

Well, enjoy the upcoming spring!

Holiday Crafting

I always try to keep 1 day free during christmas. This year we succeeded again! We've spent the second day of christmas  in our pajama's watching movies and (well I did!!) crafting. I made this pillow for the big girls room.

First I drew the letters on paper, then I traced it on felt with a pen. I mirrored the letters so you wouldn't see the lines once you attach them to the fabric.

I attached the letters by first using a teeny bit of glue so they'd stay in place. Then I sew them with quite a big stitch. Easy peasy. Had it finished in about 2 hours. Love the fabric, don't you.

What I also like about this pillow is that I reused a pair of old jeans. I love to work with jeans 'cause it's so solid. I still have a lot left. I also used it in this project.

Oh, and I also finally decorated the type case I bought some time ago. Like it?

Have a lovely day and do something fun!
