CLACS offers scholarships to support undergraduate experiential learning and grants to fund graduate student research in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Summer and academic year Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships will be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who study priority Less Commonly Taught Languages of Latin America and the Caribbean. The U.S. Department of Education's FLAS Fellowship program seeks to meet the national need for specialists in education, government and other public and professional sectors. It is designed for students who plan to utilize a modern foreign language in their future careers.
CLACS offers scholarships each year to support undergraduate research, internships and study abroad in Latin America and the Caribbean. Applications are due the last day of February. In 2018, CLACS provided scholarships funded by the endowment to 2 undergraduates. The application and information about previous recipients are on the undergraduate page.
CLACS provides funding to support preliminary or pre-dissertation research for graduate students engaged in research on Latin America or the Caribbean. Applications are due the last day of February. Scholarships are available to enroll in beginning Portuguese courses at MSU.
