tmatsuu jQueryは次の1.12がIE6/IE7をサポートする最後のバージョンになる。1.13以降はばっさり切る。1.x系はサポート継続すると言ってたけど方針変更。古いブラウザのサポートが必要なら1.12系を使い続けるべし。
