米陸軍は4月18日（現地時間）、戦場で兵士が利用するスマートフォンアプリのフレームワークとして、米GoogleのAndroidを採用したと発表した。 米軍は既にAndroidベースのデバイス「Joint Battle Command-Platform Handheld」のプロトタイプをテスト中という。同デバイスには、米連邦政府が所有するAndroidベースのフレームワーク「Mobile /Handheld Computing Environment」で作成したアプリが搭載されている。
