Standard

Our Standard Shipping combines the capabilities of UPS, USPS, and several regional carriers to deliver packages to you more efficiently.

This allows packages to arrive on Saturday as well as any other business day. Tracking is available through our website, your confirmation or shipment emails, and will indicate the estimated delivery date.

This shipping method is available for shipments to the contiguous U.S. states, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories, PO Boxes and APO/FPO addresses. Shipping outside the contiguous U.S. states may experience longer transit times.

Expedited and Premium

This shipping method is available for shipments to contiguous U.S. states, Alaska and Hawaii addresses only. Same Day Delivery is a service we offer to deliver beauty from your local store as fast as possible--all through our partner, DoorDash. The Same Day Delivery order cutoff time is based on your local store's closing time; you'll see that at checkout. Orders placed after the cutoff time will deliver the following day.

Orders are typically processed for shipment in 1 to 2 business days.

Shipping Restrictions

Not all Shipping Methods are available for all shipping addresses. Refer to the Shipping details above for available Shipping Methods for your address.

All orders containing Hazardous Materials have restrictions. See below for details.

Hazardous Materials

Certain items in your order may be considered Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT). Hazardous Materials are as follows: aerosol items, some alcohol-based items, items that contain contents under pressure, and others (e.g., hairspray, nail polish and items containing flammable, volatile or corrosive chemicals).

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) requires ground-only shipment of Hazardous Materials due to air shipment restrictions and regulations. Therefore, these items cannot be shipped to all addresses.

All orders containing Hazardous Materials must be shipped via Standard and cannot be shipped via Expedited or Premium. All orders containing Hazardous Materials can only be shipped to addresses within the contiguous U.S. states and cannot be shipped to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories, PO Boxes or APO/ FPO addresses.

International

ulta.com does not ship to international addresses.

Tip: Check the latest tracking links you receive. Sometimes your package is handed to USPS for final delivery. If this happens, you will have an additional link.

Damaged Item? You may return or exchange in store with your receipt or contact Guest Services through the options toward the bottom of the page for assistance with mailing the item back.  

Missing Item? Check your order to make sure that it is not being sent in multiple packages (this would show as having multiple tracking numbers). If not, please contact Guest Services through the options toward the bottom of the page.

Missing Package? Please review the tracking link from the carrier, along with all areas the package may have been delivered to. If it has been one business day since the date of delivery and you still cannot locate your package, please contact Guest Services through the options toward the bottom of the page.

Ultamate Rewards Members, remember to log in before shopping! Not a member? Sign up here! (It’s totally free.) Please know that Guest Services cannot place orders on behalf of a guest. For assistance in placing your order, please review below.

Using Multiple Gift Cards or eGift Cards

Only one Gift or eGift Card can be applied to an Ulta Beauty online order. However, you can use multiple Gift or eGift Cards on an in-store purchase. At this time, multiple Gift or eGift Cards cannot be merged into one.  

Adding Items To Bag

Scroll through the home page to discover new arrivals, trending items and more.

On the bottom of the app screen, choose "Shop" to browse by category, brand and more! If you are on ulta.com, you will see a menu on the top left as shown by three stacked lines that bring you to the same options.

You may also search by item name, key word, SKU, brand, etc. on the top of the screen.

Once you have found your item of choice, be sure to choose the shade/color/size (if applicable) as well as quantity. You can do that by clicking on the number "1" next to "Add To Bag" on the Mobile App. If you are on ulta.com, you can change your quantity once added to bag by pressing "+" for more or "-" for less. Once ready, click "Add To Bag" and the item will be placed in your bag as indicated by the bag icon in the top right of your screen.

Checking Out

To checkout, click on the bag in the top right corner. If you would like the order to be shipped, choose "Ship". If you would like to pick up your order in store or curbside, choose "Pick up" on the Mobile app or "Pickup in Store" if on ulta.com. Same Day Delivery may be chosen for applicable stores when on ulta.com through "Pickup in Store" as well.

NOTE - if items are not available in store, this option will be greyed out.

Review all items and quantities in your cart. If needed, you can "Remove" or "Save For Later" as needed.

On Mobile App and the mobile version of ulta.com, directly under the list of items, the options to make the order a gift and add a coupon are available. To add a coupon, click on "Enter a coupon code" and enter or paste the code there.

If shopping ulta.com through desktop, on the right above the Order Summary, you have the option to "Make This Order A Gift" or "Add Coupon Code". Choose as needed. To add a coupon, simply enter or copy the coupon code into the "Enter Coupon" open field.

TIP! If you are expecting a Gift With Purchase, be sure to check for the gift and that you met the qualifications for it before checking out! Some will automatically add to your bag if qualifications are met, and some will need to be added before checking out.

Once ready, press "Secured Checkout". If shopping ulta.com on desktop, this is to the right of the screen. Here you should confirm your Shipping Address. Under there, you can change your shipping type. Note, the shipping type defaults to Standard. If you would like premium or expedited, update accordingly.

Under shipping type, you will confirm your payment method and Ultamate Rewards Members will have the ability to redeem points if they would like to! To redeem points, click on "Redeem Ultamate Rewards Points". Here you will see a list of points and dollar values you are eligible to use in the order. Choose the amount preferred by clicking on it. If on Mobile App, press “Save and Continue”.

Review your shipping information, payment information and items once again before placing the order. Once reviewed, press "Place Order". Your Ultamate Rewards points balance may take up to 15 minutes to update after points redemption or order cancelation.

Order Cancellation

Online orders that are shipped to home can be canceled within 1 hour of order placement. Please chat, text or call ASAP for us to cancel your order. If you attempt to cancel after hours, please text us for the quickest response.

Buy Online Pick up in Store and Same Day Delivery orders process immediately. These cancellations are not guaranteed, but please contact us and we’ll make our best effort to cancel.

Coupon Exclusions

Our coupons can be used for most brands and items, but at times may exclude a small number of these products and brands. We wish we could extend these special offers far and wide on all of the products and services we offer, but we are often limited by reasons beyond our control. Please know we are always looking for opportunities to provide added value and the best prices available to our customers and thank you for your understanding. 

Please note the following list of exclusions and restrictions that generally apply to Ulta Beauty coupons:

Redeeming Coupons - ulta.com

To redeem an Ulta Beauty with a valid coupon code, place all items you would like to purchase in your shopping basket. Redeem your coupon by entering the coupon code in the space provided and click APPLY CODE. If the coupon code is valid, the applicable discount or promotion will appear in the shopping basket. Please note that not all in-store coupons and promotions can be redeemed on ulta.com and not all ulta.com coupons and promotions can be redeemed in-store. 

Only one coupon code may be redeemed per order on ulta.com and each coupon code may only be redeemed once. If you are having issues redeeming an active coupon, please contact Guest Services through the options toward the bottom of the page.  

Redeeming coupons in an Ulta Beauty store

Coupon needs to be presented at time of purchase and within the specified dates. Expired coupon/reward certificates will not be accepted. Prior purchases do not qualify for use with coupon/reward certificates. 

Shipping Promotions

Return Value

Orders placed with credit/debit card

  • Your financial institution will place a temporary hold on the funds for your order as it processes. This is not a charge and the hold will be released once your order has shipped.
  • You may receive more than one shipment notice as items in your order ship, but you will not be charged until we send you the final shipment notice. Once you receive the final shipment notice, your card will be charged and the temporary hold will be released.
  • We only charge you for items that have shipped. Any item(s) that are canceled and/or can no longer be shipped will not be charged and your final shipment notice will contain an adjusted price.

Orders placed with Ulta Beauty gift cards

  • Once you submit your order, the funds will immediately be deducted from your Ulta Beauty gift card.
  • Hold onto your Ulta Beauty gift card until you receive your entire order. If we can't fulfill the portion of your order that was paid for with your gift card, we'll return the money to it when you get your final shipment email.

Orders placed with Ultamate Rewards points

  • A temporary hold will be placed on the Ultamate Rewards points you've redeemed to pay for your order.
  • Once your order ships and you've received your final shipment notice, the hold will be released and the points will be deducted from your account.
  • How do I redeem my points online?
    • Make sure you are logged in on Ulta.com and your Ultamate Rewards Member ID is displayed on your My Account page. Once you finish adding products to your bag, proceed to Secure Checkout and confirm your shipping and payment information. Under Payment & Billing, expand the 'Redeem Ultamate Rewards Points' field, select how many points you would like to redeem on this purchase and then place your order. You may redeem up to 4,000 points in a single online purchase and up to 10,000 points in a single in-store purchase. Any points remaining can be redeemed in a future purchase.

For Unsuccessfully Submitted Orders Placed with credit/debit card

Your financial institution will place a temporary hold on your card for the amount of the order when:

  • An order is attempted, but not successfully submitted
  • The order is ultimately fully canceled

The temporary hold is in anticipation of the order being shipped. You won't be charged for an unsuccessful order submission and the temporary hold will expire automatically within the timeframe set by your financial institution. This is typically 5 to 7 business days.  

Fully canceled orders

If your order has been fully canceled, the temporary hold will expire automatically within the timeframe set by your financial institution. You may also contact us to release the hold with the following information:

  • First and Last Name
  • Email
  • Phone number
  • Order Number

If you used an Ulta Beauty gift card to pay for any part of your order, the money will be returned to it at the time your order is canceled.

Any hold placed on your Ultamate Rewards Points will automatically be released within 14 days from the order submission.

Security

For your own security, you won't be able to submit an order on ulta.com if the billing address, credit card expiration date and/or security code doesn't match your credit card statement.

ulta.com requires you to enter the correct security code with every purchase. We will not remember your security code.

Tax

Applicable sales tax will be applied to your ulta.com order in accordance with state and local laws, and an estimated tax amount will be reflected in the order summary before checkout.

The tax rate is determined by several factors including, and not limited to: the items purchased, the ship-to destination and the ship-from location. Please note that your order's ship-from location can change between the time your order is placed and when it ships, which may result in a sales tax charge that differs from the original estimate.

Gift wrap and delivery charges may also be subject to tax in some states. Please note that tax exemptions are not available online and must be used in store.  

PayPal

PayPal® is a quick, easy and secure way to shop without using your credit card at hundreds of great websites. Subject to credit approval.

Afterpay

Pay for your purchase over 4 equal installments, due every two weeks. You'll pay your first installment at the time of purchase, and the remainder over time. Learn more about Afterpay.

Returns

Ulta Beauty is committed to making the return process simple and seamless for you.

You can return most new or gently used products within 30 days of the original purchase date for a refund to the original form of payment, subject to refund restrictions below. Returns made from 31-60 days of the original purchase date are eligible for a merchandise credit. Returns must include all original components.

A proof of purchase is required for any return unless we can verify the original purchase in our system. To offer the best experience, Ulta Beauty reserves the right to require a government-issued physical ID and phone number or email for any returns, and to limit returns if there’s reason to suspect misuse of our policy, such as excessive returns, reseller activity, or fraud. All returns are subject to validation and approval at Ulta Beauty’s discretion. Any products that are not verified within our system or are not otherwise accompanied by proof of purchase are ineligible for a refund, exchange or merchandise credit.

Extended holiday return policy

Items purchased at Ulta stores or on Ulta.com between November 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, are eligible for return until January 31, 2025, with an extended timeframe for receiving merchandise credits for returns made in store, or Ulta Beauty electronic gift card for online purchases returned by mail. Purchases made after December 31, 2024, will follow our standard return policy.

Refund Restrictions:

  • For products purchased using online payment services (e.g., PayPal, AfterPay), you will be refunded to your preferred credit card, debit card, or issued a merchandise credit when you return in store.
  • If the original purchase was made with an Ulta Beauty gift card, your refund will be issued as a new Ulta Beauty gift card.
  • Returns with a gift receipt made within 60 days of original purchase date can only be exchanged for a different product of equal or lesser value or returned for a merchandise credit.
  • Gift cards cannot be returned.
  • Single-use coupons used in the original purchase cannot be returned.
  • Coupons, special offers, and Ulta Beauty Rewards™ points are not valid toward prior purchases. You may not return product(s) for the purpose of repurchasing and applying a coupon, special offer and/or Ulta Beauty Rewards™ points.
  • A service fee will apply for any check returned unpaid by the bank. There is a 10-day waiting period required for these returns.
  • Wigs and hair extensions purchased through an Ulta Beauty salon and intimate wellness devices cannot be returned.

This policy is effective for all purchases made on or after NOVEMBER 3, 2024.

Simply bring the product(s) you wish to return to any Ulta Beauty store, and our associates will assist you.

For Ulta Beauty at Target purchases

Product(s) purchased at Ulta Beauty at Target, are not eligible for return, exchange, or merchandise credit in Ulta Beauty stores. Purchases made at Ulta Beauty or ulta.com cannot be returned or exchanged at Ulta Beauty at Target locations. Please visit Target.com for more information related to purchases made in Ulta Beauty at Target.

For Ulta.com purchases

Online purchases can be returned either by mail or at any Ulta Beauty store. Note that shipping charges for your original order are non-refundable.

How to return Ulta.com purchases in-store

Bring your return to any Ulta Beauty store. Simply take the product(s) you wish to return along with the original order confirmation email or packing slip, and all original packaging materials. You may also click here to sign into your ulta.com account and retrieve your order information.

How to return Ulta.com by mail

If you prefer to return your online order by mail, please note that you must cover shipping charges when you send your return. To expedite your refund, we recommend returning products in-store. Please note that exchanges cannot be made by mail.

When mailing your return, we recommend using the same shipping package the order arrived in. Apply the return mailing label to the outside of your return shipping package and be sure to include the packing slip with your return. Address your return package to:

Returns must be shipped using ground-only methods. Hazardous materials, such as aerosols or products containing flammable chemicals, must be shipped according to USDOT regulations. We recommend using a traceable shipping method (e.g., UPS or USPS insured mail) to track your return. Once your return is processed and a refund has been issued, you will be notified by email. Refunds are processed within 30 business days of receiving the product at our distribution center. To see your return status, log in to your Ulta.com account and select “Order Status.” Credit card or bank card refunds may take 7-10 days to appear on your account after you receive your notification email.

Returns mailed within 30 days of purchase with proof of purchase will be refunded to the original form of payment. If you paid with a store gift card, your refund will be issued as an Ulta Beauty gift card. Returns between 31-60 days from purchase date, with proof of purchase will receive an Ulta Beauty electronic gift card.

If your return is received past 60 days, your order will not be refunded and will be returned to you by mail.

For purchases from DoorDash Marketplace

Product(s) purchased through DoorDash can be returned within 60 days at an Ulta Beauty store with the DoorDash receipt. Refunds will be issued as a merchandise credit to be used at Ulta Beauty stores. Merchandise credit for DoorDash returns cannot be redeemed online.

Ulta Beauty Rewards™ points

  • Ulta Beauty Rewards™ points earned on returned product(s) will be deducted from your Ulta Beauty Rewards™ balance.
  • If you redeemed Ulta Beauty Rewards™ points to buy product(s) and return it, those points will be added back to your Ulta Beauty Rewards™ balance.
  • If you return only part of a given purchase made using Ulta Beauty Rewards™ points, a prorated number of points will be returned to your balance.

Returned merchandise policy

To ensure the highest quality, Ulta Beauty does not resell used, damaged, or expired products. All returned products that don’t meet our standards are properly disposed of.

If you are dissatisfied with any service received at an Ulta Beauty salon, please contact the store manager within 7 days of the service date.

Gift Wrap

Sending a gift?

Yes, we offer gift bags, including a decorative ribbon on most items. In rare instances, and based on item, gift wrap may be used but is not an available option during check out. 

Before checking out, choose "Make This Order A Gift" in your shopping bag. This will give the option to opt into the gift being wrapped (toggle option), and to include a personalized message with the order up to 250 characters.  

PLEASE NOTE: Individual items within an order cannot be bagged, wrapped, or boxed separately. Oversized/overweight items are not eligible for gift services. 

Product Availability

Ulta Beauty makes every effort to ensure that all of the merchandise we feature is in stock when shopping online. 

In the event that an item becomes out of stock after your order is submitted, we will ship the rest of the items in your order and send you an email indicating that one of your selected items is out of stock. You will not be charged for the out-of-stock item. Rainchecks are not available, and we will not ship the item when it is back in stock, as we do not have a backorder system. 

 Looking for an item in store? Visit our list of stores here to locate your desired location! Once located, scroll past Store details, availability, and Services menu to “Brands in Store”. Here, you can find your product by first narrowing down to the brand!  

 If you are on the product page, you may also choose the “Check in-store availability” option under the “Add To Bag” button to check in store availability.  

 It is important to note that not all items available online are available in store. When checking out, if you choose to pick up in store, those items will show as not available within the cart. You have the option to either have your entire order shipped or remove the items not available in store prior to checking out.  

 Not all online Gift with Purchases are available in store, and vice versa. Be sure to review the gift details prior to checking out to help ensure you receive your free gift!
