Submit a Letter to the Editor or Guest Column

As part of our mission to help identify and discuss important local issues, we encourage you to submit letters to the editor and guest columns to be considered for publication. We work hard to select a diversity of voices, perspectives and views. We give first priority to local authors discussing local issues in Eastern Iowa.

When we select a piece for publication, we edit it for length, clarity and accuracy. If we have substantive changes, we’ll get your approval before we publish.

Letters to the editor

Letters up to 250 words can be submitted by anyone, including amateur writers and concerned citizens. Letters should be your own original writing and not borrowed from a political campaign or advocacy organization.

Guest columns

Guest columns are 400 to 600 words. Guest columnists usually have special expertise or lived experience with the topics they write about.
