CEDAR RAPIDS — Two new dive bars are making a splash in Cedar Rapids.
First Ave Tap, tentatively opening the week of Sept. 23, will fill the shoes of the former Break Room, 3108 First Ave. NE. The new bar is being opened by Megan Evans, who has a hand in popular restaurants and bars like The Blind Pig, Pedaler’s Fork and Cedar River Landing.
Evans said renovations are underway at the location, which will feature pool tables, dart boards and other games.
Lil Grove Dive Bar opened at 1010 Second Ave. SW on Sept. 10. The bar was previously home to The Rewind, which closed in September 2022.
The new establishment will offer a breakfast buffet daily from 7 to 11 a.m. with eggs, bacon, pancakes, biscuits and gravy. After breakfast, it offers a lunch and dinner menu featuring smash burgers, “smash tacos,” and appetizers.
