Sydney K. Erickson has joined Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman of Cedar Rapids as a transactional attorney and will be assisting clients with wills, trusts, estate planning and probate needs.

UnityPoint Health hiring events: UnityPoint Health hospitals in Eastern Iowa are hosting tailgate parties for nurses and other health care professionals interested in learning about career opportunities with UnityPoint. The events will be 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 3 at three locations: St. Luke’s Hospital, Alumni Terrace outside the A Avenue entrance, 1026 A Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids; at 2255 John F. FAA OK’s Collins cockpit processor: Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, last week received the first FAA approval for a multicore processor that increases the speed and capacity of an aircraft’s flight deck, providing 75 percent more capability than single-core processors. It’s the world’s first multicore processor certified for civil and military aircraft and is able to process data 12 times faster that single-core processors.
“Green” ale for sale: Big Grove Brewery in Iowa City and GreenState Credit Union last week announced the fourth annual release of A Greener State of Mind, a citrus-forward pale ale. Proceeds from the sale will go to Iowa’s Izaak Walton League to purchase water testing kits.
Small business of the week: U.S. Sen, Joni Ernst, R-Iowa. last week named SCE of Cherokee County as her small business of the week.
Cory Bouchard and his wife, Maria, established SCE in Cherokee in northwest Iowa in 2015. The construction and excavation company specializes in utility services for residential and commercial sites.
Ernst, the ranking member on the Senate’s Small Business Committee, is naming one exceptional small business of the week in each of Iowa’s counties during this congressional session.
