Whisky students galore.
AN academy of malt whisky already has a waiting list for its course - and it hasn't even been built.Students from around the world are queueing up to enrol - a year before the new Scottish Malt Academy at the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay is due for completion.
Director Gordon Wright said: "We've already got a waiting list and a block booking from Japan.
"At this rate, you'll have to put your child's name down at birth, rather like Eton."
The pounds 1000-a-week residential courses will take students through every aspect of whisky distilling, from cutting the peat to shovelling malt and how to "nose" the final product.
A lecture hall and library are planned for disused buildings in the re-opened distillery.
Mr Wright said: "We want to give people a real feel for the entire process - a total immersion in how whisky is made."
