WOMEN'S FOOTBALL.

Bangor City Ladies notched up their first win of the season on Sunday with a 5-1 hammering of North Notts.

Ceryl Jones did most of the damage for Bangor, scoring four goals, with Cheryl Foster adding the fifth and manager Keith Fearns was delighted. "I was a bit concerned because six players are out in Slovenia with Wales but it was an impressive performance, " he said.

Wales under-19s opened their UEFA championship bid with a 1-0 win last night in Ljubljana, Bangor's Eleri Earnshaw scoring in the 84th minute, and they face Estonia in the qualifiers tomorrow evening.

National manager Andy Beattie said: "We've got a lot of flair in this young side and plenty of experience."
