PLANE FIRE DRAMA.
Byline: HEATHER RAMSAYPASSENGERS fled in terror yesterday after their plane burst into flames on the runway of a Scots airport.
The aircraft was preparing for take-off at Aberdeen Airport at around 9am when flames started shooting out of the engine.
The three crew members aboard the Eastern Airways Jet stream immediately aborted take- off and ordered the nine passengersoff the aircraft. Three fireengines rushed to the scene but were stood down afteran on-board extinguishing system was activated.
A spokeswoman for Eastern Airways said the drama was caused by an overload of fuel.
She said:""A spark ignited an excess of fuel in the combustion chamber."
The shocked passengers boarded another aircraft shortly after to take them to East Midlands Airport.
