KIAWAH ISLAND 1991 - Faldo is paired with rookie David Gilford, but then doesn't say a word to him during the entire round, claiming he needed to concentrate on his own game at that time.

BROOKLINE 1999 - Faldo sends team a Ryder Cup good luck message, but his comments leading up to the match had so angered captain Mark James that he threw the note in the team-room bin.

AUGUST 2000: James quits as assistant to new Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance after a huge bust-up with Faldo over comments about the now infamous Brookline note in his book: Into the Bear Pit.
