MONTROSE 0 BRECHIN CITY 1

CHRIS TEMPLEMAN rounded off a perfect week by scoring the only goal of the game to see off derby rivals Montrose.

The Brechin prodigy was chosen as Bell's SFL Young Player of the Month last Monday and he lived up to his star billing at Links Park.

Templeman said: "It has been a special week for me. For my goal I just made some space and hit it into the bottom corner.

"Things are going well. We had to battle for the points when they had a bit of pressure at the end but we defended well. We want to keep our 100 percent record going for as long as we can."

Brechin boss Dick Campbell said: "I'm delighted to win without losing a goal. Chris's strike was worthy of winning any game and it was the only difference between the teams."

Montrose manger John Sheran said: "You can see why Brechin are top of the league as they are difficult to break down but we made four or five good chances. My players can hold their heads high.

ALBION ROV 2 QUEEN'S PARK 1

ROVERS boss John McVeigh and assistant Andy Smith hugged each other in delight after notching up their first league win of the season.

Second-half goals from Steven McCormick and Mark Booth earned the Coatbridge side a valuable three points.

McVeigh said: "Queen's Park are difficult opponents but the commitment shown by my lads was excellent.

"Our attitude in the second half is what I am looking for and it was great to get the victory. All we needed was that bit of good fortune and we finally got it."

A McCormick header in 52 minutes was followed by Booth's 66th-minute spot-kick winner after he had been brought down by Queen's veteran Ross Caven.

Caven had opened the scoring with a penalty in 41minutes after Tommy Tait impeded Gary McPhee in the box.

Spiders boss John McCormack said: "I was very disappointed with our second-half performance. We defended far too deeply.

PETERHEAD 1 ELGIN CITY 1

RUSSELL McBRIDE knew he had to play the game of his life at Balmoor - or face months of abuse.

The ex-Fraserburgh star stoked up old rivalries by lining up against the club Broch fans love to hate.

But the 22 year-old Elgin star - a Fraserburgh-based electrician who often works in Peterhead - ensured he could hold his head high by earning the man of the match award.

McBride said: "Rivalries are pretty intense between my old club Fraserburgh and Peterhead, so I was always likely to take stick from their fans.

"But it would have been a lot worse if I'd had a stinker.

"I have to live and work in the same area as a lot of Peterhead fans."

Ian Gilzean, son of Scotland legend Alan, headed the opener for Elgin in 22 minutes.

But Martin Johnston equalised just after the hour mark when Stuart Mackay's cross set him up for a sweet finish from just outside the six-yard box.

EAST STIRLING 2 DUMBARTON 4

SHIRE'S stand-in keeper Stewart Robertson made some horrendous errors to deny his side their third successive win.

The former Stenhousemuir and Clyde goalie flapped at a Joe Robertson corner in the 11th minute to allow Paddy Flannery an easy opener before David Menelaws equalised with a 35th-minute penalty.

Menelaws then put his side ahead 11 minutes after the break but the home keeper - in for the suspended David Hay - punched a Martin O'Neil free-kick into his own net in 62 minutes.

Joe Robertson (71) and Steven Bonnar (77) then hit hit two more to push Sons above Shire in the table.

Menelaws said: "It's always great to score and I've had five this season but it's no use if the team loses."

Dumbarton gaffer Tom Carson said: "I wasn't happy with the performance. The goals we gave away were shocking but I'm delighted to get the result."

Home boss Brian Ross said: "It was a terrible game and I think the scoreline flattered them.

STIRLING ALBION 2 EAST FIFE 1

ALBION goal hero Alex Williams has set himself a secret scoring target.

The 18-year-old striker headed the 46th-minute opener to put his side on the road to victory over East Fife at Forthbank.

And Williams said: "Last season I was breaking into the team and I beat my target of five goals.

"I've got two now and I've set myself another target - I'm not saying what it is but I'll beat it."

Fifer Paul McManus missed four good chances in the first half before Williams struck and Stewart Devine made it 2-0 in 69 minutes.

McManus finally broke the Fifers' league scoring duck with a 72nd-minute header.

East Fife boss Dave Clark said: "We're getting better - I know my players are improving."

Albion manager Ray Stewart said: "They caused us a bit of a problem but we didn't play that well."
