Cops step up hunt for missing salesman.
Byline: CHARLES BEATON EXCLUSIVEPOLICE are to interview 500 clients of a salesman who vanished without a trace more than a week ago.
Father-of-three Gary Linn, 38, went to work as normal on Friday, August 31 in his Snap- On Tools franchise van.
He called his wife, Kathleen, before lunch to talk about a family party that evening and called home again around 4pm to help one of his sons with a computer problem.
But Kathleen, 39, became concerned when Gary, of Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, failed to show for the party.
She tried to call him but his mobile was switched off.
His van was spotted between Falkirk and Dalkeith at 7pm that evening. The following day, it was found burned out near Gorebridge, Midlothian.
Gary's boss, Dave Clark, told the Record: "We are at our wits end trying to fathom out what happened.
"He is such a genuine hard worker with a wonderful family. I spoke to him that Friday and he was in great form, saying business was booming."
Superintendent Elliot McKenzie, leading the police hunt, said: "The circumstances are bizarre.
"In the possibility he has orchestrated his own disappearance, we would appeal to him to get in touch.
"We plan to interview more than 500 of his clients throughout Central Scotland to try and get to the bottom of this mystery."
Kathleen said: "Gary is a devoted husband and father. This is so totally out of character and I feel something really wrong has happened."
Family friend Bobby Blair added: "Gary had no financial worries and there was no other woman involved.
"Finding the van burned out has scared us."
