WEATHER wise, Ayrshire's Golf Coast can't match America's Gulf Coast.

But for people who fancy homing in on the Scottish seaside, this part of the coastline is an ideal location.

As well as some of the best beaches around, there are manyhistoric buildings and country parks to explore, as well as a wide range of shops.

With excellent road, rail and bus links to Glasgow and beyond, plus Prestwick International Airport nearby, home buyers are within easy commuting distance of almost anywhere.

Mactaggart & Mickel have two sites on Ayrshire's picturesque coastline and have also just lodged a pounds 5 million planning application with South Ayrshire Council for a new site in Symington. At Castle Square in Greenham, just south of Ayr, a range of two and three-bedroom semi and detached villas and bungalows are being built.

Called the Eriskay, with its masonry external finish, this modern two-bedroom bungalow has the appearance of a traditional lodge house.

FOR buyers in search of a bargain, Persimmon Homes have an extensive range of incentives on selected plots at sites throughout Ayrshire.

Money-saving deals include part- exchange, up to five per cent deposit paid and discounts of up to pounds 4000.

Customers can cash in on these attractive offers at Persimmon's Mains View site in Saltcoats, where a selection of two, three and four-bedroom semi and detached houses are on sale, priced from pounds 66,000.

Bargain buys are also available at Persimmon's Glen View site, where a brand new range of house types has just been launched.

Prices start from just pounds 75,000 for a three-bedroom semi-detached villa. If you're looking for a larger family home, Persimmon are building a mix of three and four-bedroom detached houses nearby at Lilybank, from pounds 83,995.

WIMPEY Homes also have some attractive deals at their Gladstone Park site in Kilmarnock.

On selected plots, home buyers are offered a year's mortgage holiday, plus five per cent deposit paid, pounds 500 towards legal fees and free valuation.

Wimpey are also giving customers a pounds 1000 cashback. But buyers will have to hurry. These money-saving deals are only available for legal completion before October 26.

The properties being built here are all from Wimpey's Homes for Life range, including the two-bedroom semi- detached Bruce and the three-bedroom semi-detached Baird house styles. Both feature a spacious kitchen, downstairs cloakroom and large lounge/dining room.

Prices at the Kilmarnock site start from pounds 48,995, sales office open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm. Call 01563-551874.

MCLEAN Homes have just opened two showhomes at their latest Stevenston site.

A total of 30 four-bedroom detached villas, all from the company's Heritage Collection, are being built at The Meadows, priced from pounds 87,500.
