Brits' pounds 6bn drugs spree.

BRITONS spend more than pounds 6billion a year on drugs, claims to a Home Office study.

Crack sales are worth pounds 2billion, and cannabis accounts for pounds 1billion-plus.

The Home Office also released results of The British Crime Survey 2000 yesterday, which showed the number of 16 to 19-year-olds using drugs fell from 34 per cent in 1994 to 27 per cent in 2000.

Home Office Minister Bob Ainsworth said that was "encouraging" but that drug use was still "far too high".
